I don't have a wife so it's a NO for everything.
ReformedArsenal

Con

You have already contradicted yourself. Because if you say you have not stopped beating your wife, you are saying you have a wife, beat her in the past, and have not stopped beating her.

However you also said that you are not a wife beater... however answering no to the first question says that you are.

Game... Set... Match.

How would one argue out of saying that "No, you have not stopped beating your wife?" and "No you are not a wife beater?"

I think Pastafarian gave up too easily. He could have argued his way out.

Grape, it's a trick of rhetoric... In order to answer "No, I have not stopped beating her..." you are implying that you were at one point beating her. If you answer "No, the rock has not stopped living" or "Yes, the rock has stopped living" you are implying that the rock has at one point been living and either is still living or has stopped.

In order to stop being your wife, you must have beat her at some point. Therefore, if you have never beaten her you cannot stop being her. It follows from this that if you have never beaten you, you would answer "No, I have not stopped beating her." At no point did you ever stop, because you never began.

Consider, "Has a rock stopped living?" It has not stopped living; it was never alive.

Actually Grape, you are wrong. You rightly identified that in order to stop beating her, you must have beat her at some point. So if you say "No" what you are saying is "No, I have not stopped beating my wife." It is a classic false dichotomy construction, and in a normal debate would be a logical fallacy, but in this debate it was fair game.

Have you stopped beating your wife?

The answer "no" is perfectly correct. He has never ceased beating his wife because he never beat his wife in the first place. In order to stop beating your wife, you have to beat her at some point. Someone who has never beaten his wife can accurately answer "no" to that question, and it is not a confession (except to people who don't understand the sentence).
