India is a safer place to live in than in other developed countries. The answer is NO and I am totally against the statement. India is not and it can never become a safe country to live in as compared to developed nations. This is because the country is still developing. At the moment, 92.5% of Indian sectors is full of corruption starting from bureaucrats to politics. Secondly, In India, there is lot of crimes like murders, rapes, theft, cheating and so many more. Hence, our political personalities are always busy in solving these two major issues rather than doing task for the development for the economy and the country.

Thank you for the debate.

Amitabh's position is somewhat murky. The number 92.5% is offered up without a source, and this number refers to corruption, which is not the same as safety. There are some extremely corrupt societies that are very safe.

Most importantly, though, developed countries have very disparate crime rates, and "developed" is not measured in terms of said crime rates. The US truly stands out in this sense as highly developed and yet having very high rates of crime, especially violent crime, compared to other developed countries.

Statistics vary widely, but India outperforms the US in numerous crime categories [1], ranks lower on country rankings for crime [2}, and in at least one case is ranked behind Germany [3].
