THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE 100% SERIOUS

All things considered, I think it should be obvious that Trump should ditch the wall and move to a GIANT MOAT. Let's face it: no plan will be entirely effective in discouraging illegals from immigrating to our country, not even a big, glorious wall with a big and just as glorious door. It will be a massive project, requiring hundreds of thousands of hours of construction time to complete and millions of dollars to pay for it. But considering it wont be entirely effective, that would be a waste of time and tax payer dollars, so let's switch to something cheaper and less time consuming: a moat.To understand why a moat is so much more practical than a wall, consider these points:

1) A moat will be so much easier to construct
2) A moat is cheaper
3) Moats are awesome
4) Moats are more convenient

Point one is about how easy it would be to build a moat rather than a wall. Wall building isn't an easy task, especially if we want to build one1,989 miles long! We need to lay out plans, gather the materials, gather the workers, get those workers to build that big, tall wall, and more. It would be so hard. But contrast, a moat is easy. You get the workers and machinary and start digging! Twice as easy! Half the hassle!

Point two is about price. Let's be honest. Building a wall is gonna be pricey. We pay for workers, materials, architects, building permits, etc. However, for a moat, all you pay for are the workers and machinary! A wall will require bringing supplies in. Concrete, steel, etc. But in a moat, all you do is dig! So much cheaper than your lousy old wall.

Point three is obvious: moats are awesome! Walls are everywhere, houses, parks, literally every town/city in THE WHOLE WORLD has at least one wall. But moats are rare! When's the last time you've seen a moat? You've probably seen a hundred walls since then. Walls are boring and moats aren't. I think the choice is clear.

Point four is for convenience. Think of all the things you could do with a moat! You could fish, you could traverse from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean; the possibilities are endless! Can you go fishing on a wall? Can you cross from the Pacific to the Atlantic on a wall? No. We could also call this moat a canal! Think of it: Trump Canal. It has a nice ring to it. Thousands would flock to see this modern marvel that is keeping the illegals out! Tourism and an illegal immigration deterrent! What could be better?

I think the choice is obvious. A moat is so much better than a wall. Please join me in this plan! Walls are boring. BUILD A MOAT!

Thank you...

I must say I think moats are cool. However, I disagree we should build one. I'm going to address each one of your reasons.

1) A moat will be so much easier to construct.
Not necessarily true. Digging any hole or trench is dangerous and time consuming work. The machinery used requires special licensing to operate. There has to be an engineer to design the excavation. There are permits involved. Safety coordinators along with programs would have to be implemented. The soil and debris removed has to be transported somewhere else. Then there is the filling it with water. That's a lot of water. Designing a moat big enough to deter people entering the country would require a lot of contractors and equipment. It would require surveying and soil and rock experts.

2) A moat is cheaper.
That depends on the kind of wall. A giant moat big enough to slow illegal immigration wouldn't be cheaper than most walls.

3) Moats are awesome
They are unique. However, not practical. If people wanted to travel to Mexico a moat would limit their options.

4) Moats are more convenient
It would be very inconvenient. A moat of that size would require destroying existing ecosystems. If it was a canal a lot of commercial freighters would use it. Which may be good for business but it would be polluted and one wouldn't want to fish there. Also a giant moat would attract pirates.
