I do not belive that Inuyasha could have shildren on a scientivic point of veiw. Does anyone care to argue?

I thakn my opponent for starting the debate, however, this will be easy for me to win as the argument comes down to whether or not demons (or youki rather) in the Inuyasha universe can have children. Quite frankly, we must keep in mind that Inuyasha has a father, thus, if his father and human mother can be responsible for Inuyasha being born, then it is most likely that Inuyasha can bear a child as well through Kagome of course. And that is all I will be saying for now.

PS: The Inuyasha ending SUCKS!!!!!

I will look to a scientific approach.
Assuming science could prove they exist(I know, just assume) then humans and demons would be two different species. Now, donkeys and zebras are also two different species so I will use them as proof in my argument. Zebra's and Donkey's could indeed have offspring, and have, the result being a Zonkey (it's 100% truth). However, Zonkey cant breed, not even with others of their kind. Why is this? Geiotes (sex cells) have half the chromosomes each other cell has in thas organism. When two organism of different spieces rerpoduce, thier geiotes combine to make a zigote. However, since the eggs or sperm would not match, they can not have offspring.

"I will look to a scientific approach."

Attempting to apply science to a fairy tale is a waste of time, but if we're going to go about assuming that the idea of "yokai" is scientific, then let us take a look at the link provided by Ragnar in the comment section: http://en.wikipedia.org...

Keep in mind that it states yokai have the ability to take on the form of humans (according to Inuyasha, the more advanced ones at least), thus this enable me to bypass CON's "different species" argument as youki have the ability to take on the form of different species. If they have the ability to take on the form of different species (particularly human), then surely they'd have the potential to mate with ANY species much like that hot blue chick in Mass Effect.

That being said, let us center this discussion back to whether or not Inuyasha could have children. First, we must keep in mind that upon every night of a new moon, Inuyasha temporarily transforms into a full human. Thus, if CON really is correct about Inuyasha's "yogurt train" not being able to reach Kagome's "station" since he is half demon, then Inuyasha could simply wait till the night of a new moon so that both him and Kagome could attempt the horizontal shuffle without having to worry about any yokai genetics getting in the way.

And that'll do it for now.

Great job, L-M! Total devastation! I was hoping you'd go the route of the New Moon with Inuyasha.

I like bleach, but do not watch it enough to make a debate or any thing. also, I read the debate you were in about whether yagami was a shinigami. I have great respect for you and am looking foward to you being my first opponent on this site.

Oh wait, I found a reference that would make the conclusion of this debate likely... and it's not in any poem :D

Well technically if you could find something about where the yokai (http://en.wikipedia.org...) came from... that might tell you, say if a doggy was Inuyasha's great great grandaddy, or a corrupted spirit of a human. I won't telll you which would lead to which conclusion :D

Fortunately, that burden belongs to my opponent.

And one would have to twist a poem quite hard in order to make a conclusion that concerns genetics. It'd be like concluding that Santa Claus has "gills" based on the a typical Santa Claus poem.

To really argue this you'd have to dig REAL deep int he japanese folklore off of which it's based, and maybe you'd find some poem somewhere you could twist into a notion about the genetics of such creatures, which would be necessary to determine whether Inuyasha is a reproducible hybrid.
