Melo Is Not The Reason The Knicks Are Losing,When The Front Office Doesn't Put Together A Respectable Squad What You Expect One Human To Do

Carmelo Anthony is the reason the New York Knicks aren't a successful NBA franchise. Let me preface this by saying I'm a die hard Knicks fan since birth. Ill just be arguing this point by point.

1) Playing Style
Carmelo Anthony is a shoot first player. He was in Denver, he's been one while hes in NY. In my mind, he at times can be the best offensive scorer in the league. But he's too selfish, if not the most selfish player in the league. He'll take contested shots, pass up open teammates, and attempt to pad his stats rather than help the team win.

2) Salary
Melo, obviously has the highest salary on the team, and it only gets worse. Last year he was paid $22M. This year, about $25M. In 2017 he'll be making $26M. And in the final year, 2018, he'll make close to $28M. Not a lot of room for the front office to sign quality players when 1 player takes up a quarter of your CAP space. Last year, Carmelo was the third highest paid player in the league behind Kobe and Lebron. Kevin Durant made $20M, while Westbrook made $16M last year. If you asked Melo to take a pay cut, I almost guarantee he'll decline.

3) The Trade
In 2011, the Knicks decided to trade for Melo, and overpaid in the process. We'll get to the draft picks later, but the players they decided to give up were; Danillo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, Timofey Mozgov, Raymond Felton and Anthony Randolph. Danillo is now Denvers best scorer, Chandler was one of the most electrifying players back then. Mozgov turned about to be a great defensive bench player, and Anthony Randolph was almost a perfect fit in the Knicks offense. Felton, well...glad he went. In return, we got an OLD Chauncy, a bust in Ronaldo Balkman, a washed up Corey Brewer, Shelden Williams, another draft bust, and Anthony Carter.....nothing to say. We gave up a 2014 first round pick, and two second round picks. Not to mention the $3M we just gave to Denver and the other $3M we gave to Minnesota. We gor rid of young promising talent, and gave away the 12th pick in the 2014 draft. Some players drafted AFTER the 12th pick, Zach LaVine, Rodney Hood, Jordan Clarkson, and KJ McDaniels. All young promising players.

Carmelo is a cancer. He was a cancer in Denver and he's a cancer now. And we're stuck with him. Even if we wanted to trade him, no team will take that salary, and he has a no trade clause that he will never waive. Oh and one more point about him being selfis . Last year, around the time of the All-Star Break, Melo was injured. If memory serves me correctly, it was either his knee or his ankle. He had sat out about 1 month before the All Star game, but he still decided to play in the All Star Game. He was still injured, yet he decided to play in the All star game. He decided to not help his team win when he could've played, but definitely played in the ASG to show everybody how "great" he is.
