The question at hand is "Is college worth it for everyone (USA)?".
Pay key attention to the word "everyone". It plays the most important role in the question and if absent would completely change the meaning of the question.

I added the "USA" in parenthesis because college is much different in the US compared to other countries. Many other countries have different requirements and much cheaper costs for college.

College is not for everyone.

To understand the purpose and meaning of college one must look at the background/history.
Throughout America's history, college was a way for the intelligent to become more intelligent , innovators to innovate, inventors to invent, researchers to research, etc. Recently (in the past 80 years roughly) college has proven to have been the gateway to endless opportunities. After the GI Bill was passed, returning veterans, many still in their youth, were given many opportunities including tuition payments. With a large increase of passionate students hoping to broaden their future, college became a much more popular option for many people.
A golden idea was framed that if you worked hard and went to college you would be successful.

However times have changed and unfortunately this idea has not.

-The costs of school have risen dramatically
-Student debt has skyrocketed and is the #2 largest debt behind mortgage
-Unemployment among graduates is extremely high
-Students are being lied to about the correlation between a degree and the job it will supposedly provide
-Many students get a job following college that does not require a college education
-Many students don't need a college education but through misleading information and guides they end up getting one and have a ridiculous and unnecessary debt
-Many students go to college for the wrong "benefits" such as experience
-Many students do not plan accordingly ultimately resulting in the student being worse then when they started
-College tuition can outweigh a family's income- especially with multiple members planning to attend college

Obviously there are also many pros to college and it should not be discouraged. There are many fields that require going to college like a doctor. A college can definitely benefit people and can open more opportunities to students. But the opportunities that are available need to be represented realistically and TRUTHFULLY.

Education should be partly dedicated to planning a students future rather than forcing them to take a requirement of 2 art classes.

For a student, understanding his/her future, the job market, pros and cons of college, meaning and purpose of college, a guide into some direction to college, etc is much more important than studying a 2,000 year old broken vase.

College can be worth it, but not for everyone.

You are partial right bro,but as you see Education is one of the most important criteria in one's life.It is only education that gives you basic etiquette and better understanding for each and every aspect.School only gives the basic qualification and to be successful in life you have to be excel in that particular area. It is college only who teaches you to face the difficulties in life.

College should be attended by each and every individual. There is misconception about college that it teaches you science, biology but there are many different streams like Psychology, sports, English honors ,home science and many other.
It is the college only where you learn how to manage yourself and how to interact with the different people in different scenario. In school, one is always amid by the same group of people. It is the college only where one might see his/her interest in various fields by engaging in the different clubs and talking with large group of folks .
As you mentioned about money, government is always trying to give the scholarship for the welfare of the society.
In today's generation college is the the basic need like food and water. If you want to do something in you life you cant start without having prior knowledge about the management, materials, software and capital. It is the college who helps you to getting the proper knowledge of each and every aspect.
At last I am still in college so according to me it is the best part in one's life and you always take care of the memories you had in college.
