Dance is not a sport. It is an art. Please vote for what you believe I need this for a speech.

[FIRST VIDEO IS CAPOIERA AS MARTIAL ART, SECOND IS AS PURE DANCE; THIS WILL BECOME RELEVANT LATER IN THE DEBATE.]

There are many forms of the beautiful art of dancing, as my opponent correctly refers to it.

There is twerking, lap-dancing, ballet, tango, jive and many more.

As with any sport, black people originally dominated it but white people caught up with expensive training methods, Asians lag behind immensely and are only good at it in the movies. These are all important aspects of most sports after all.

You see, dancing is indeed an art but it is an artistic sport. When someone practices day in and day out to master their movements and has to warm up before each and every practice so as not to pull a muscle and/or damage their endurance and flexibility then we are very clearly dealing with a sport. Dances have time limits, sequential moves often repeated in order to win. Much like gymnastics, dancing is a sport that does not go purely by the efficiency of the performer but furthermore the ability of the performer to act out severely creative routines without faltering in any physically verifiable way. Any martial arts match where there isn't a knockout ends up being judged in much the same way as a dance-off is. In fact Capoiera is both a dance and a martial art and is a very good example of the fusion between the two.

Dancing is not a simplistic sport where one merely has to say "OMG I ran .3 second faster than you herpaderp I is champ!" It is a complex sport which makes one have to master not only their physique but brain;s ability to memorize a beautiful sequence of seamless moves.
