I don't think that Facebook will die. It has made acquisitions on several other popular social platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram etc. These are supporting Facebook as a whole. It has also invested into Oculus rift, which is going to revolutionise computer experience. What do you guys think?
Facebook can't possibly outlive the next generation of tech users. Already, we see other services used more than Facebook. And it is only because of it's overwhelming user base and valuable metadata that Facebook is able to succeed. Kids already don't use Facebook because Mum and Dad are on it, it's laughable to think my 4 year old daughter will use Facebook in her teens.
Here is a survey by Piper Jaffrey concluding that Facebook has dropped in importance amongst Teens: https://static-ssl.businessinsider.com...
Looking at the chart, we see that Instagram is at the top. Instagram is an acquisition of facebook, so it means that facebook is profiting more than its competitors. Also the major competitors of facebook are Snapchat, Tumblr, Vine and G+ (barely used by people). But these are at an disadvantage because they're only accessible through smartphones but facebook can be accessed from PC, laptops and smartphones.
Even though facebook is losing support in the United States. Its thriving in several other countries like India, Indonesia, Brazil and Philippines.
