Firstly, I assume that the instigator is believes that faith is not enough, although I may be mistaken.
Honestly, I think the answer is no. For the most part I think that it would depend upon the individual.
Only one person can really know if they have faith in something and they need look past a mirror to find out who, and to those who have unconditional belief in something it won't matter whether others verify that belief.
Though faith is different. I think faith is more of a trust and to use that word suggests they have an understanding and acceptance that they may be wrong, and that they merely hope they are not.

I can only see it this way as of yet. I look forward to hearing more. x

You don't need faith to recognize what we can know or we can't know, anything that is beyond what we can test is something a scientist would honestly say they don't know.

Scientific theories are collections of facts in which allow us to determine what is true or not through experimentation therefore faith in itself is defined as "believing in things without evidence" and when it comes to knowing whats true, we are able to know things with evidence.
