Food poisoning is a very common disease, which leads to abdominal discomfort / pain, diarrhea, vomiting and fever. You get food poisoning by eating foods which are infected with different types of bacteria, parasites, and viruses which harm intestinal flora and can lead to infection and if it`s not treated an ulcer or in worse cases dying.

Food can be contaminated by coming into contact with the microorganisms in the fecal matter, not cooking the food enough (especially meat), eating expired food, cross-contamination of the food. Some farmers use fecal matter as fertilizers and can contaminate the foods and also a chicken having any of the viruses can contaminate de eggs. Make sure you wash your food and proper cook it to kill all the bacteria and parasites. Everyone is at risk of getting food poisoned if the rules of hygiene are not respected.

Most people with food poisoning don`t need treatment, only to be careful to have a good diet, but if you get infected with a virus you need to visit the GB as soon as possible. The symptoms of food poisoning can be: weakness, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal cramps and excessive gas, fever, headache, nausea. Visit your doctor if these symptoms last for several days and it`s getting worse, if you are pregnant, if you suffer from any bowel disease, if you are over 60 or under 14, you have a weak immunity system due to other treatment.

Usually food poisoning is treated at home (excepting the severe case which needs medical attention), by paying attention of what you eat and make sure you don`t get dehydrated. Avoid fried food; avoid caffeine or caffeine supplements because they irritate the stomach.

We can count a few natural remedies for food poisoning.

  • Mint tea. In the case of diarrhea, mint tea is the best solution. Mint is an excellent antiseptic, stronger and energizes the stomach bacteria; digestion function goes back to normal.
  • Chamomile tea. Chamomile is known as an excellent sedative, lowers the levels of pain.
  • Yoghurt. Yogurt is very refreshing and also has good bacteria in it which team up with the good ones you have in the stomach and makes you feel better.
  • Dandelion. Helps with the upset stomach.

The best way of preventing food poisoning is prevention. Make sure you wash your hands before cooking, wash the fruits and vegetables under running water, cook your meat properly, store your food in right conditions (under 5 degrees Celsius or freeze them), avoid canned fish, before opening the can of food make sure you wash it.

Usually, the food poisoning heals up by itself within 48 hours, if the symptoms persist or get worse, if you feel dehydrated, feel dizzy go to the hospital as soon as possible for further treatment, you might be infected with a virus and worm which can cause severe damage.

The best home treatment for food poisoning, is the same for everyone, plenty of rest and a proper diet based on boiled food, less fat and a lot of liquids (avoid fruit juice, it is acid and can cause more stomach pain).;

I accept your debate as I noticed you didn't say what type of health issues. Just health issues.
After reading your entire debate, you seem to be saying what food poisoning does and how it can be treated.
By the way, I have a seizure disorder. Y'know, like a mental health issue? I know for a fact it was not caused by food poisoning and I have had it since birth. Also, here are a few common health issues:
Cancer of various types
Yes, food poisoning can cause many issues such as fevers, cramps, vomiting, headaches, and nausea, but while those are common they are not all the health issues in the world and therefore is not able to be the leading cause of (example) cancer.
You do have good information, however you basically said bad food and bad hygiene cause food poisoning, causing common symptoms of common sicknesses. However, other things can be causing the same thing. As an example, eating five chocolate cakes in one sitting can cause nausea and vomiting.
