 Pro  Con No. Globalization: The development of an increasingly integrated global economy marked especially by free trade, free flow of capital, and the tapping of cheaper foreign labor markets. (Merriam-Webster) My opponent created this topic because he is looking for information on globalization. I am not going to do my opponent's research for him, but I will offer some basic arguments. Contention 1: Free Trade = Communism When has communism ever worked? Oh that's right, never. Stalinist communism was oppressive and destructive. Zedongist communism was not much better. Communism only leads to tyranny and suffering. Contention 2: Free Trade ≠ Wealth Free trade causes a mass distribution of wealth, and this cannot possibly increase wealth. Poorer countries will leech off of the success of America and the American free market. This is destructive to the greatest nation on earth. Contention 3: Globalization Leads To Global Collapse When all the countries get together in free trade, it increases research into the department of flying pigs. Before we know it, genetically altered pigs will be flying around all over the place. And then people who say stupid things like "I'll go out with you when pigs fly" or "I'll pay you a million dollars when pigs fly" will be contractually obligated to fulfill their commitments. Chaos will ensue. People will have to pay huge sums of money that they do not possess, and the economy will utterly collapse. Everyone will be forced to go into slavery to everyone else. It will completely ruin the global structure and will shatter civilization as we know it. *** I await my opponent's response. |
