Since 1977 Star Wars has revolutionized the way films have been made and has set the bench mark of what is to expected from movies both visual effect and originality-wise.

The first ever Star Wars had mind-blowing special effects and everything featured was completely original, which was incredible considering the film featured no-name actors and was made on a budget of only $11 million dollars; more than half the typical budget of a Hollywood film at the time.

Not only this, but Star Wars culture has had such an impact on our everyday lives that everyone wants a piece of it. The film has the most successful merchandise, the most parodies of it, the most references in pop culture, the most spin-offs and alternate timelines, the most games, and so much more! There are even entire clubs and religious groups based of the movies like the Saber Legion Lightsaber Dueling Club, The 501st Official Star Wars Cosplay Group, even a Jedi-based religion; ALL of which have an international following.

Harry Potter might have been the most successful book series of all time, but Star Wars is the most successful FRANCHISE of all time!

I rest my case.
