He was put in jail for no reason because he did not misrepresent the content of his book when he said that "He found the weight loss cure protocol to be easy" so I say no He is not guilty!

I am assuming that Pro meant to be con given the content of the opening given. Pro claims that this person is in jail for no reason and did not misrepresent the content of his books.

I admit a personal bias against people like Mr. Trudeau who sell things that they know do not work to people who just want to do their best for their own health.

In simple terms, he is in jail for violating an order to stop making certain claims. He had over a decade of violating orders to stop breaking the law and refused. His lies at the very least cost people money and time, but it is possible that he has killed people by promoting snake oil cancer cures.

"As a result of the size of the fraud and Trudeau"s two previous felony convictions, federal sentencing guidelines called for 20 to 25 years in prison, a range that Guzman said he thought was "appropriate." However, he eventually agreed with prosecutors who said a 10-year term was sufficient since -- unlike in many fraud cases -- no one who bought Trudeau"s book was financially ruined."

"Evidence was presented at his trial that Trudeau appeared in three infomercials in 2006 and 2007, and in those infomercials he misrepresented the contents of one of his weight-loss books.

The U.S. attorney said those infomercials were not only untrue, but they violated the 2004 court order that prohibited the infomercials."

"The New York State Consumer Protection Board ("CPB") is warning consumers that a fast-selling book by Kevin Trudeau does not contain the "natural cures" for cancer and other diseases that Trudeau is promising in a nationwide television ad campaign.
The CPB says Trudeau is not only misrepresenting the contents of his self-published book, he is also using false endorsements to encourage consumers to buy "Natural Cures They Don"t Want You to Know About."

"This book is exploiting and misleading people who are searching for cures to serious illnesses," said Teresa A. Santiago, Chairperson Teresa A. Santiago. "What they discover is page after page after page of pure speculation -- not the cures for cancer and other diseases that are promised.""

This person did not give a whit about the people he was robbing and he deserves at least the 10 years. I have zero sympathy for people who knowingly put out factually untrue medical advice to people in desperate situation.
