Is NASCAR a sport, why yes it is, I have a few things or you,
1: Why does Sports Center show it and why do thy have. NASCAR analyst, Ricky Craven, on there.
2. Have you we What thy do in their cars, the car WANTS to move right, not left, so they fight the car to go left.
3. Harder to do, why, they are in high physical shape, Mark Martian, and do more hits that any Football, Baseball, or Hokey player would do in any old game. They have the right to make more money that teachers ever make in a year, they probably have more guts than a 250lbs football player will ever have in their 1 hour game. Drivers have 4 to 5 hours of sweaty, hot, and tiring of a Sunday after noon.

The Lizard disagrees.

1. They sit down for 4-5 hours. That's their sport.
2. The most activity they do is turning the steering wheel left.
3. You only lose 74 calories per hour when driving [1]. Since NASCAR drivers are stressed out about the next time they have to turn left, let's say 100c/h. That's 4-5 hundred total. You burn more than that sitting in a sauna for 30 minutes [2]. Is sitting in a sauna a sport now too?
4. I have no idea what your point 3 is supposed to mean.

Therefore, not a sport.

How about you watch a race from our local FOX station, and if you aren't in America, watch from any in-car view that faces the driver, a lot goes on that you think I does. I would like o hear hat you think AFTER you see one, remember only 75 hours.

Go to www.nascar.com if needed.
Lizard

Con

That's not an actual argument, you're just telling me to go watch NASCAR. I showed that it takes more energy to sit in a sauna than to compete in NASCAR. It's not a sport, it's sitting down for 4-5 hours and hoping you turn left better than the other guys.

You're not hoping to turn better that others, you are hoping to outsmart, outwit, an outdo every other drive, look on NASCAR's YouTube channel to see their add campaign for this year to see what I mean.
Lizard

Con

I've seen NASCAR before. Compared to basketball and football it's not a sport and telling me to watch it won't make it a sport. If how well you turn left is a matter of outsmarting your opponent, then these other two sports must take thousands of times more intelligence, since they involve several directions and considering other team mates and things like that.

Reasons for voting decision: Con made strong arguments, while pro just tells con to "go watch it". Con was also the only one to use ANY sources at all.

Reasons for voting decision: Pro forfeited, and attempted to cancel the debate, which is a clear win for Con. In addition to that, Con's case was pretty sound. Is something that requires no physical energy really a sport? Sitting on your butt and turning a wheel requires no athletic ability. Clear win for con.
