I think swimming is a sport.

While I do believe that swimming is a sport. I would like to just be the devils advocate because there are no other good debates.

My argument is that swimming is an event such as track. The reason that swimming is not a sport is because there is no opponent hindering or trying to stop you. Thus making swimming have no true "direct" competition. This also makes swimming an individual event.

As one criteria of a sport is
"have an element of competition"
As define by sport accord.

Therefore swimming is not a sport.
