Con

I think that the Olympics is really about governments trying to show just how powerful their country is better than everyone else's.

Pro

I accept.

Con has the burden of proof, because he is arguing that Olympics are about countries to show that they are the most powerful, which is not a popular belief. I am arguing that the Olympics are about sportsmanship, a far more accepted belief. All I have to do is to negate his arguments, but I can present arguments of my own to strengthen my case.

'Sportsmanship' shall be defined as "fair play, respect for opponents, and polite behaviour by someone who is competing in a sport or other competition" [1]

Reasons for voting decision: Con forfeited and Pro made arguments and included sources. My view is the same as Con's, but I must vote in favor of Pro. The Olympics are about politics, but I would love it if they could be about sportsmanship.
