I strongly believe that Watson and Crick's theory of DNA being a double helix is incorrect.

That's a very interesting theory. Could you explain why you believe this?

First of all, Watson and Crick did a lot of guesswork, and based a lot off of the famous A and B DNA photos by Raymond Gosling and Rosalind Franklin. The images were not very clear and was not a birds eye view of a double helix. I checked with my DNA model. I personally think that DNA is an x shaped helix instead.

Watson and Crick developed their theory based on a lot of info. Austrian chemist Erwin Chargaff found that there are equal amounts of A's and T's, and C's and G's in DNA. This suggests pairing (AT and CG), meaning there's likely two sides to DNA.

According to info that Francis and Crick didn't even have back then theres much more evidence for a double helix shape.

Could you maybe post a link to an image of an x-shaped helix? I'm having difficulty envisioned it. Are you saying there are 4 sugar phosphate backbones?

I really hope the irony of it not being their theory comes up.
