For all who say, a fetus is not a baby, they are in fact babies. By the dictionary, a fetus is a HUMAN BEING in developmental stages. It's not a blob of skin and bones attempting to become something, it already is something. If you say they aren't, then what makes a baby, a real baby? Is a baby born at 5 months not a baby because it's not full term? It's not a choice you get to make. I'm speaking off of a speech I heard, and it stated that if you have unprotected intimate moments, and you get pregnant, why blame the baby by aborting it? It's something you need to take responsibility of, it's still a child. It's not a baby who asks you to decide whether or not it should live. The baby is it's own self, and deserves life just as much as you do. So yes, abortion is murder, and I am pro-life.

Your assertion claiming that baby is synonymous to fetus is simply egregious. The Oxford dictionary defines baby as "a very young child or animal" while it defines fetus as "a young human or animal before it is born, especially a human more than eight weeks after." It also defines life as "the ability to breathe, grow, reproduce, etc. that people, animals, and plants have before they die and that objects do not have."

I assert that a fetus is simply not synonymous to a baby due to a definition reason that no reliable thesaurus would relate the two, and that "blastosphere" is a more similar term.

Secondly, in a more moral sense, a fetus, while retaining human DNA and structure is not alive due to their inability to breathe, grow, and reproduce WITHOUT the assistance of their mother.

Thirdly, a fetus has not the ability to be punished (by abortion) due to the fact that it is cannot comprehend what is being inflicted upon, due to the fact that it is not alive.

Life begins at birth.

Con's assertion that "life begins at birth" seems to contradict the "assistance of their mother" argument. Fetuses are not born the moment independent life is possible. There exists a time during which a fetus passes the mother-assistance criteria yet is not born.

@ArcTimes: "life" is still relevant because of the ethical value many people attribute with it. The assertion "all potential for life must be maximized" is dismissed by most as unpractical, if not completely wrong (trying to fertilize every single egg is a good way to overpopulate the planet!), so we must choose a place at which a potential human begins to gain value. For many people, this is at conception.

By the argument of life by chrisdrown wouldn't a fetus simply be a parasite (which can't grow, breathe etc without the help of the host), and therefore still living?

I think the issue of life is irrelevant here because a "dead baby" is not alive but it's technically a baby.

That definition of life is very misinformative.
What about a person who got a vasectamy, are they not considered life?
Are elderly people not considered life because they no longer grow?
Fish aren't life either, seeing as they do not breathe.
