My stance is that it is justifiable.

We as people have no way of defining what types of life are valuable enough to be wasted for human pleasure and similar purposes.

To specify, I do not oppose the testing of animals for scientific or medical reasons, but for cosmetic or 'product safety testing'.

We as people do not have the right to superimpose our 'superiority' over other members of the animal kingdom.

If an alien species of a much higher intelligence and awareness level than us was to come into existence, would it be morally justifiable for them to test us for their own pleasure simply because we were less intelligent or aware as them?

We as people are in no place to define what type of life is valuable enough to be saved from dangerous exposure and what type is not.
