The dictionary definition of outdated is obsolete
So no I do not believe Facebook is becoming outdated here's why.

Argument #1:
The number of Facebook users is still in the billions. 3.2 billion people have internet access and out of that around 1 billion of them have active Facebook accounts, that is over 30%. That is 3 times the population of the entire United States. The sheer number of active users should be enough to convince anyone that Facebook is not becoming outdated. By no means does this indicate that Facebook is becoming obsolete. The only other social media that is a danger to Facebook is Instagram. That would be the case except for the fact that Facebook bought Instagram in 2012. So if their biggest competition is no longer a threat, and their numbers in account ownership and active usage are in the billions why would they be obsolete.

Argument #2:
Companies also use Facebook to promote their products on Facebook because the realize that it is a viable way to advertise their product. Many iOS games and Android games use Facebook to advertise in game rewards, such as Candy Crush, Clash of Clans, Trivia Crack, etc. Why would companies offer an incentive to use Facebook? Because it is not outdated. Every major organization or company has a Facebook page that they use to interact with users or fans. Right now think of a major company or service provider or whatever you want and go to Google and google, "[Insert company name her] Facebook" the first result that will some up will be a link to their Facebook page. If most every major company uses Facebook then Facebook clearly is in no danger of becoming obsolete anytime soon.

Argument #3
Although Facebook is not the social media of choice for the teenagers of the world it is still very relevant in the business world as previously mentioned in argument #2. Since its creation FB has just found a different niche to fit into. Although the number of people who use it just to connect to friends and family shouldn't be overlooked either. Just because most teenagers don't use it doesn't mean no one does. A study done in 2014 shows that 71% of online adults (58% of entire adult population) uses Fb. 87% say they are connected to friends from the past, such as high school or college classmates, 58% say they are connected to work colleagues. So yea maybe younger people don't use Fb anymore but adults still do.

At the end of the day Facebook's stocks, users, and active accounts are still in the billions. Last time I checked obsolete is usually involved with the number zero not 1 billion.
