Being nude during army interrogation is a trauma for many Arab men
On the contrary westen soldiers are comfortable about their bodies.

I say NO!
Being nude is not torture
LADYBUG36

Pro

I have to oppose that thought. I find that being forced to be in the nude is totally un-comfortable to a lot of men and women. Being nude really brings them out their comfort zone which can scar a person. Even though some people are comfortable with their bodies, there is still a sense of invasion. Therefore making it torture.

10.000 volts of electricity run across your private parts, that's torture!
Your balls smashed with a baseball bat, that's torture

Con

Now. I am not saying, the stripping a prisoner naked, before interrogation does nothing. It totally helps the soldiers to establish dominance over the prisoner. But a well trained soldier will withstand these feelings, of cold, shame and fear.

So, forced nudity is a "mood setter"
.. not a torture method

The 19-page document, entitled "Background Paper on CIA"s Combined Use of Interrogation Techniques" contains repeated references to keeping suspected al-Qaeda captives " naked as part of the strategy for breaking down their resistance. The prisoner is kept nude while being subjected to the actual torture-light: "conditioning techniques," sleep deprivation, shouting and a bland diet. Nudity continues while interrogators apply other more aggressive techniques designed to emphasize a prisoner"s helplessness.

I hate it, when they give up early on, and forfeit!

Pretty sure, joetheripper117 could have come up with a more convincing argument, than nudity, possibly being uncomfortable and dragging the poor prisoner out of his "comfort-zone" :D

I have not done nearly enough research on torture to have a proper debate on the matter, so I must sadly decline. I look forward to seeing your other debates on the topic though.

because, you made some good remarks re: torture in another post

Would you like to debate, if we reversed the positions?
So you are arguing that forced nudity is a form of torture?

I agree with your proposition, why did you challenge me as an opponent?
