Concepts below must be clarified to proceed with the debate:
1. Genetic Engineering: Artificially manipulating the genetic materials of a human being to achieve a certain purpose.
2. Genetic Enhancement: Artificially manipulating the genetic materials of a human being to improve one"s ability to achieve a certain purpose.
3. Genetic Therapy: A type of medical treatment that manipulates the genetic material of a human being to treat a health condition that one has.

Opening Statement:
Genetic enhancement though can improve some capabilities of a person, it diminishes the meaning, the purpose of life, therefore making it morally unacceptable.

this will be my first debate so forgive some minor flaws (feel free to point them out to help me improve) I thank you for the debate and hope we both come out of it a little smarter and better educated on the subject.

Opening statements:
we have already as a species engaged in a form of genetic engineering since the dawn of mankind, evolution; the incremental changes in our genome due to mate selection and random mutation have over time altered our species. I see no downside to artificially speeding up or altering this process would we have the means to do so without harm.
