Some Students are tired of waking up early because they are not interested in some subjects

Greetings.

I disagree with this proposed change because:

-It is catering to a minority, therefore the utility gained by the minority of people benefitting from this change would be less than the majority of people who will have to adjust their schedules and who might prefer to continue waking up at the times they are already used to.

-This would impact people who wish to participate in extracurricular activities because they will have less time to do so.

-Changing the timing for school is just a band-aid solution. Once those students move on to University, they will have the same problem, and when they move on to having a job, they will also have the same problem. Far from helping them, changing school timings only reinforces the behavior of sleeping in and waking up late and makes it even more difficult to adjust to more strict schedules later on in life.

Now, as for the argument my opponent gave, of not being interested in some subjects:

People will always be uninterested in doing some things that they have to do. If basic education is not compulsory in a person's country, they can always choose to not go to school and get a job instead. If basic education is compulsory in a person's country, well, it just adds one more thing to the many activities in life that people have to do even if they don't want to.

But changing how an entire system works on the basis of "I don't like doing it" is poor ground for a proposed change.
