Is it fair that Cristiano Ronaldo receives more that the actual president? Some people think that it is unfair because the president is responsible for lives in the other hand Cristiano Ronaldo is responsible for whom?

I contend that it is "fair" that Cristiano Ronaldo has a higher income than the president of Portugal.

To be clear, I will submit that the president directly contributes greater influence over the nation's citizens, dealing with issues that effect the country on a much more significant level. So I understand your position, since you feel the nature of the president's job is much more "demanding" and influential over the people of that country. So in essence, this debate also revolves around the broader discussion of whether professional athletes are over-paid compared to individuals whose jobs are seemingly more difficult and benefit others more directly (such as doctors or teachers).

Although I can identify with your position on this topic, I must disgree with it. Your position on the issue is inherently flawed, since you are over-looking the fundamentals of economics. To put it very simply, economics revolves around the principles of supply and demand. Cristiano Ronaldo, as a professional athlete, meets the demands of a market that deals with large sums of monetary capital. Television networks and media conglomerates, through advertising and marketing, create a high demand for professional athletes. Since soccer is the most popular sport in the world, the influence of the world's best players, such as Cristian Ronaldo, as both celebrities and as assets to teams creates a demand for these individuals that pits club teams against each other. The club teams are worth hundreds of millions of dollars, with sponsors backing them that are sometimes valued even higher, in the billions (i.e the AIG logo on Manchester United's jersey). So it comes as no surprise that Cristiano Ronaldo is paid significantly higher than the president of Portugal; it is the nature of economics.

Therefore, to say it is "unfair" that he is paid higher, you are failing to identify the reasons as to why this is the case. And since free market economics is one of the most unbiased systems in place in the world (yes, there are flaws, but that is for another debate), then I feel his high income as a professional athlete is more than fair since he satisfies the demand in a market that deals with individuals and companies that are extremely wealthy.
