I don't think so because it is very unattractive to some people.

Pro

I accept, and assume you have full burden of proof.

"I don't think so because it is very unattractive to some people."

You know what else a certain group of people find unattractive? Jews. If this argument were valid, here's a list of thigs from history we would find acceptable:

1. The Holocaust [1]
2. The Holodomor [2]
3. The Khmer Rouge [3]
4. The genocide of sock and sandals wearers [4]

You, sir, are no better than Hitler.

Con

If you want an explanation, I'll give you one.

Sandals are a type of footwear made specifically to wear during summer months, so feet don't feel uncomfortable in closed toed shoes. Wearing sandals with socks with sandals IS permitted to wear. So yes I do lose the argument I admit. But, in my defense it is looked down upon simply because the sandal is not designed to look that way.

Now, I have many Jewish friends and I respect their beliefs, but referring to me as a character that is looked down upon in society is not necessary. This website was built so that people can express their opinions in a respectful, and friendly way. That my friend, is not very friendly is if you ask me.

I am also new to the website and this is my first debate. So if you could please take it easy I think we can resolve this easily. I'm sorry I'm not amazing. It's up to you to be kind.

Consider it explained.

I am related to several Jewish people, and I believe the comparison was just. Hitler is looked down upon for criminalizing Judaism. You didn't explain what rules socks and sandals would break, so I assumed you wanted it as law, not just as a social norm.
Welcome to the website, you might want to try an easier to debate topic next time.

@OtakuJordan, it just wasn't funny. Making comparing shoes wears to Jews in the Holocaust isn't appropriate. The Holocaust is a very serious topic, especially for the families of Holocaust survivors.

It is okay to wear socks and sandals because it's your style so if it works for you go for it!

Kbub, I din't respond to that because the debate wasn't about whether or not it's fashionable. The debate was about whether or not socks with sandals should be legally and/or socially acceptable. Megan was taking a stance that people wearing socks and sandals should be discriminated against, which I find wrong. If Megan meant whether or not the choice was fashionable, she should have made that the debate.

The bad part is that megan deleted her account, and now I have to wait for her to forfeit each round.

This is the greatest thing I have seen in my entire life. (I probably need to get out more.) The sock and sandal genocide is genius.

If it was so useless I wouldn't have posted it. I'm new here so if you could cut just a little slack I think we can get along nicely. SeventhProfessor has very good arguments and is very smart according to his argument.

Reasons for voting decision: Instead of "extending all arguments," I might have used that extra post space to more thoroughly defeat Con argument. Con actually did a pretty good job answering your criticism. "Extending all arguments" was a waste of good debate space. Con--don't drop rounds. It's rather rude and makes people wait. Pro, I'm sorry to have to do this to you after waiting so long, but I'm going to have to give this one to Con. Your comparison to Hitler made light of the Holocaust, which is untactful and offensive. You did not respond to Con's point about the discomfort and poor fashion sense involved in socks with sandals. Comparing to Hitler was a pretty bad move, didn't add to the debate, and yet was your only point. Con wins. I would normally give Pro conduct points, but comparing criticizing someone's fashion sense to a genocide of millions of people is, frankly, a rude move and a moot point, so conduct goes to Con, who did not offend all Jews. Pro got her/his facts wrong, so Con wins sources.
