According to the supreme court ruling in Tinker v. Des Moines Independent School District, students "shed their constitutional when they enter the schoolhouse door."

I believe that this contradiction to the constitution is completely ridiculous and that no public institution can deny any student of a civil liberty.

Ok, so there are two main problems with this.....

1. When the resolution that my opponent writes, reads "Is it right for students in public schools be denied the right to freedom of speech?" And then my opponent states that he is pro, he is stating that he is against free speech in schools, and thus, as the con, I am for it in this round....

2. He sights the Supreme Court case of Tinker v Des Moines where he said that the Supreme Court stated "students check their right to free speech at the door." However, he is incredibly wrong about this. The Supreme Court, in a 7-2 decision, said the opposite, that students do not check their 1st ammendment rights at the door.

And because of these two reasons, I hold that students should not be denied the right to freedom of speech, and hold Tinker v Des Moines as one reason.
