Modern Psychology describes human consciousness as a mere neuron impulse and denies the existence of a 'soul' kind of thing. I vehemently oppose this notion as this theory is first of all a theory, it is not an established fact and will never be one!!!

The human brain is a very, very complicated organ. I will be talking from the perspective of science. Religion has its own things about consciousness I won't be talking about. The brain has trillions of neurons that are tied to memories and information. As far as we can tell this is what consciousness is. Everything we are. our personalities stem from a small amount of human nature but mostly the conditions that surround us. While it is extremely complicated to try and understand how the brain develops consciousness, in essence, it is neurons responding to the world around you. While there is definitely more to this, it's just basically how the brain inputs sensory information. While you disagree with this, I would like to know why.

I disagree because the personalities you are talking about and are brain being complicated and impulses being the cause of are consciousness is just a theory and it is not an established fact at all.Ask your own self do you think you are alive because a certain amount of charge is there dancing in your brain? Don't you think you are a part of something bigger and better? The consciousness present inside of you has the power to affect the physical world too. It is true that knowledge exists due to nerve impulses but there is a huge between Knowledge and consciousness. When a person dies, what happens to his consciousness? Considering it to be just an impulse it dies too. But if Consciousness is something then it hasn't come from nothing and will not go into nothing.

Well, the thing with science is that well-established theories are considered facts. For example, gravity is just a theory. It's really hard for the scientific community to prove those types of things factual. Also yeah, I do think I am alive due to electoral impulses in my brain. How do you think your heart pumps? Or your organs operate? All electrical impulses provided by the brain. While there is not a lot of electricity, what's why the premise of the matrix is inefficient but it would theoretically work. Also yeah I don't think I am part of anything bigger than the inevitable recycling of my atoms into dirt or something. Simply, our current scientific understanding of consciousness is nothing but a series of complicated chemical reactions within our brain cells. Consciousness is not some intangible thing, it really just is our brain. When we die, we die along with our consciousness. Now our brain develops and therefore consciousness develops in our brain and when it dies it does not go into anything, it's just dead. Like, when a human dies we don't just disappear, we slowly degrade. So a fetus develops around consciousness around 5 months old so we can assume it is a part of the brain that is developed.

Well then if you say theories are true facts and that we are just some highly developed beings with our thoughts driven by electricity then please explain how does this electric model of consciousness can explain theories like The entanglement theory. How can my consciousness be connected with the physical world and the other beings. At the Institute of Noetic Sciences it has been proved that the human mind has capacity to alter the physical world. How can you explain all this with the idea that our consciousness is just an impulse....and please dont talk about magnetic effect of current!!

Alright. Stop twisting my words and cherrypicking data to make a point that's not even relevant to the argument. The entanglement theory doesn't not even have close to an answer to why it happens and you cant make an argument on based on assumptions. Quantum entanglement has the possibility of effecting any molecule, it's not tied to human consciousness. Also, we know almost nothing about our own brain but we know what its made of. Gray matter and neurons. We don't know how far we can stretch our brains capacity. Also, why can't I make the argument of the magnetic effect? Its an equally valid argument compared to yours. Nothing you have provided has any evidence of anything coming even close to deconstructing my arguments or even proving the existence of a "spirit". Just because we don't know all the answers does not prove your argument correct. Also, stop using so many damn exclamation points.

Brother, since the beginning of time one and only one principle is followed. A theory is accepted only when it explains the phenomenon and answers all the questions John Locke, a 17th-century philosopher, was one of the first to speak and write on consciousness. He believed that our identity was tied to our consciousness, which he essentially defined as what passes through a man"s mind, or memories. He also asserted that our consciousness is not tied to our physical bodies, and that it can survive even after our physical bodies die. In fact, Locke held that consciousness could be transferred from one soul to another.Ren" Descartes also addressed the idea of consciousness in the 17th century. He set out to answer the question of how it is possible that our consciousness, a non-physical thing, can come from our bodies, a physical thing. The explanation he came up with was called Cartesian dualism; in short, consciousness resides within an immaterial domain he called res cogitans (the realm of thought), in contrast to the domain of material things, which he called res extensa (the realm of extension). He suggested that the interaction between these two domains occurs inside the brain. On the other hand there have been many modern theories trying to describe consciousness as a neural activity. The thing is some people have developed a 'scientific ego'. They refuse to accept an idea which they think is scientifically impossible. Like you said we don't know much about ourselves!!

Dear Ending there have been many theories. We say they are just theories because a theory can take a U-turn and what it was saying a day ago to be true is now false. Now Gravity is an established fact in case you don't know the difference between established facts and theories. You require some book reading on this topic dear.

isn't it amusing that their is a large portion of humanity that refuses to believe we are anything but special and unique, despite all evidence that proves that such a notion couldn't be further from the truth.

i like to make light of this from con

"I vehemently oppose this notion as this theory is first of all a theory, it is not an established fact and will never be one!!!"

Ignoring cons ignorance in this statement, it seems to be a repeating pattern that religious people and creationists use the "ITS JUST A THEORY" just because its under the title theory doesn't mean its not true. for instance GRAVITY is just a theory, but i dont see you jumping out a two story window con.

-Earth is generally spherical in shape.
-Evolution is a real accruing process in all living things
-Life does not require a "SOUL" to be both alive and conscious.

and if your simply against the notion humanity is not special because the idea of your consciousness disappearing apon your death is to much to expect.

Well, people around the world die all the time from starvation and famon, And its not gonna just stop because someone finds it sad and doesn't believe it.

its in the same boat for consciousness requiring a soul as you put it.
