Its obviously beneficial, duh. It's self explanatory....
Mark119

Con

School is not beneficial because what we're taught doesn't actually help us in the world. When will I need trig in my life?

School teaches you life skills...like working hard, determination, setting goals, and succeeding in life. It teaches you how to work with others and socialize with people in order to achieve more than what you thought you could.
Mark119

Con

You didn't answer my question from the first round. Giving us life skills would be helpful if they actually prepared us for college or life outside of school. School may teach us life skills but those skills are pretty useless if they don't help us get into college or get a job in a field that we are interested in.

Pro

School=Money. Its a proven fact, you can read the data, that if you graduate high school, you make more money. Better yet, if you graduate college, regardless of your major, you will make on average 750,000 more than someone with a high school diploma. On the other end of the conversation, if you don't finish high school, you will make less money. School=Money. Money=success, success=good. School=good. Get rekt son...
Mark119

Con

You still never answer my question form the first round by whatever. Actually school doesn't always mean money. If you don't go to college you can still become an electrician and you are more likely to get a job then someone who graduated. If you go into the military then you will most likely get a job in the military.

Reasons for voting decision: At best all Con proved were that some things learnt in school are bad but those points were never strong enough to negate Pro's arguments. Pro conceded that school teaches you life skills. This argument goes in Pro's favor. Pro's next argument was money. Pro showed that you are more likely to make money with a high school diploma. Con showed that school doesn't always mean money but Pro showed that you are more likely to make money with school than without it. This was sufficient to affirm. Furthermore, due to the nature and set out of the resolution the burden of proof was shared. Pro had to prove school as good. Con had to prove it as bad. All Con did was refute Pro's argument but failed to present their own. As a result this debate clearly goes in Pro's favor as Con failed to fulfill the burden of proof.
