No it really isn't. Primary school yes, because you have to learn the basics of life. But you don't actually NEED secondary education, it should be optional for everyone because then we will only have the people who are passionate in that certain subject area. Therefore we would produce more people with higher grades and more passion for that subject area. Also certain subjects are unnecessary and add extra stress when it comes to exams. Teenagers these days have so much pressure on them to get the best grades but some of them can't which is causing more mental illnesses to arise in these years. So with secondary education we are literally destroying the younger generation from the inside out.

Please explain what you mean by mental illness. When you say secondary school are you referring to high school (9-12)? What do you mean by Unnecessary subjects?

In the United Stats you are required to be in school until the age of 16. At that point you may choose to drop out, severely limiting your opportunities for employment and eliminating the possibility of join a military branch.

Many young people, when given the option to work hard or take the easy road, will do the latter. Being young and not having the experience or the mental capacity to see the benefits of going through a secondary education and might miss out on a subject they will love but just didn't know existed.

Secondary education is not just about learning facts and information but also about managing being a person. How to manage your time between classes and getting homework while balancing other activities such as sports or hanging out with friends.

Who are these teenagers with so much pressure? Yes it can be true that some parents are very strict about grades but there are also many who are happy as long as their child is trying their best. Once you explain your definition of mental illness I will respond on that point.

So you're arguing that (high school) isn't necessary? Why don't you just argue PRO on that resolution?
