I'm sure there have been many times when countless high school students have sat, bored in a history class that has no relevance to their lives. History has little relevance to the modern world. Instead, I propose a different class. Instead of teaching history, teach on current issues. We do not need history to remind us of what to do and what not to do because our modern day problems are drastically different than those in history. Has anyone, at any point in history had to deal with Muslim terrorists with all of their modern capabilities? If you looked through every history text book ever written, do you think you'd find relevant information that can help us solve immigration, refugees, lack of funding for necessary government projects? That is because our problems can only be solved by focusing on modern issues and looking to the future. This is why studying the past is both irrelevant and unnecessary.
