Con

I hear people saying all the time that suicide is 'selfish.' But is that the case?
I say yes and no.
Yes, because you're not considering what you'll be doing to the people that love you dearly. The pain you'll be causing them. The guilt that they will have. The grief. All of the emotions that they will have.

No, because depression can take a toll on you. It's a battle, and everyone isn't strong enough to fight it. Some feel that there is no other way. And they feel that no one understands them or cares about them. It's a mental and emotional strain. It's horrible.
I just want opinions.

Pro

This is my opinion and hopefully many of you will agree. Suicide can be selfish in some circumstances and it can be reasonable, justifiable, and even honorable in others.

Disclaimer: These are subject to change as it's hard to classify every person's ordeal into just these seven different categories.

Selfish reasons:
1. If you are in need of dire help but refuse it whenever it is available
Example: Normally these people fall into category 2 also.
2. Too much social pressure and bullying
Example: A teenager unable to make friends because they are different.
3. To avoid problems you have caused for yourself
Example: Due to poor money management, a man commits suicide to avoid unpaid bills.

Reasonable, justifiable, and even honorable examples:
1. Dieing for one's country or for the good of the group
Example: A soldier jumping on a grenade to save his comrades
2. Social customs
Example: A samurai who has been defeated will take his own life.
3. A catch-22 where one option is suicide and the other being neither the person's fault or in his control
Example: 9/11 jumpers
4. Having some mental disorder where you aren't in control of your actions and if able, have at least tried to get help
Example: Extreme cases of depression

Reasons for voting decision: Neither side argued wholly for their side, since both made arguments for either side. As such, I tie arguments. Conduct to Pro for Con's round forfeits.
