VP: Justice
Debate Round No. 2
LDer

Con

To my opponents VP of Justice:

I assume that my opponent defines Justice through the most common definition used by debaters:
"Giving everyone their fair due" -Plato

Plato once argued that perfection can only exist in theory.

Everyone can't be given what they deserve because, the definition itself implies perfection. In a perfect society, everyone would always receive their due; however this simply cannot exist in tangible terms.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

VP: Human Dignity
C: Respecting and upholding treaties and documents which the US has a responsibility to uphold.

I hate when this happens.

First off my opponent does not contest my definition of justice so that is the definition. So according to him/her, there can never be justice. Well if there can never be justice why can't we torture if there is justice there are no rights, so again according to my opponent it does not matter if you torture

Opponents Values:

Valued Premise: Human Dignity

Rebuttal: My opponent is saying that we should not torture just because the people want to harm our country will have the dignity be no more. What about our dignity? If the United States doesn't protect it's own citizens our dignity is no more. I achieve my opponents Valued Premise.

Valued Criterion: Respecting and upholding treaties and documents which the US has a responsibilty to uphold

Rebuttal: Since my opponent does not give anything that is specific, or any treatie that they made not to torture this VC is irrelevant. And secondly, why would we make a treati with the people that want to kill us.,

Voters:

1. Since my opponent says justice can never be achieved that is why we should torture in order TO ACHEIVE JUSTICE as a country by protecting our citizes.
2. I achieve my opponents value of Human Dignity because we have to preserve our own by protecting our citizens

I have effectiveley oblitarated my opponent's values and made mine the ones we must look to in the round.

Thank you vote AFF because in the long run, we must to what is best to protect our citizens.
