First of all, and most important of all, this debate will remain calm, and this will be an open discussion about if there is indeed a God watching us in the clouds. My opponent has to proof there is indeed a god, and I have to prove that there isn't, there is no factual evidence of a God, neither is there actually evidence that there isn't, so you can not give any points to usage of factual evidence, but you can only base yourself on assumptions and opinions. So, points go to credibility.
Game on.
I accept and will explain how God does exist without using facts like the complexity of the eye. |

Alright, so as I said, we're not going to insult one another, and we're not going to use false facts, since there are no real facts that there IS a god, there are assumptions though as to why there couldn't be a god watching us from the skies. D however cite your sources if you're using websites for arguments.
To ask if there is a God, we must first understand what we mean by a God, According to Wikipedia "God is often conceived as the supreme being and principal object of faith. In theism, God is the creator and sustainer of the universe." [1] There is no contemporary evidence for Jesus" existence on this planet, there is just simply no evidence that Jesus himself ever set foot onto this Earth. [2] [3] If you look really hard, then you can find historical artifacts for every historical figure there was, however, nothing was found that belonged to Jesus that we are certain of. Now, of course Jesus is not the only person of religious importance, there are others such as Allah, and Jaweh, etc.. - If your God, or any God loves all, and if he can prevent evil, but doesn't, then He isn't all-loving. - Contradictions in the Bible, lots of them. [4] eg: EXO 15:3 The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name. ROM 15:33 Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen. - If God (or any other metaphysical being or beings) were real, and people were really perceiving him/ her/ it/ them, why do these perceptions differ so wildly? -If there's an argument for religion that's convincing -- actually convincing, convincing by means of something other than authority, tradition, personal intuition, confirmation bias, fear and intimidation, wishful thinking, or some combination of the above -- wouldn't we all know about it? [5] [1] http://en.wikipedia.org... [2] http://en.wikipedia.org... [3] http://www.nobeliefs.com... [4] http://www.infidels.org... [5] http://www.alternet.org... I know this debate will be very difficult to win, and very difficult to answer some of the questions that will be asked, but best of luck to you.
//"however cite your sources if you're using websites for arguments."// I"m going to do this debate without sources. I just don"t find them all trustworthy and if one is wrong, they all could be meaning they mean nothing. I will be using more common sense ideas and not as many "facts" that could be false. //"There is no contemporary evidence for Jesus" existence on this planet, there is just simply no evidence that Jesus himself ever set foot onto this Earth."// Saying it is not proven Jesus was here is like saying it is not fully proven George Washington was not here. Both have the same type of evidence, documents etc. Now what"s the difference? It is said Jesus was here about 2000 years ago. George Washington was about a couple hundred years ago. Now you may say it is more reliable that George was here because it was so much closer in time and there are more documents on him, which may be true. But again we may be saying the same thing in 2000 years about George Washington not having much evidence of ever existing. Again it is true that it can"t be fully proven Jesus was here, there is certainly way more evidence he was then that he wasn"t. If you want me to prove why there is more evidence he was here, just say and I will post it in the next round. //"If your God, or any God loves all, and if he can prevent evil, but doesn't, then He isn't all-loving."// Your father punishes you for doing something he tells you not to and he punishes you. Does that prove he is not all loving? Now I know there is a big difference in the two, but I"m just giving a little example of what I mean. Now think to yourself. How there is even such a thing as evil without anything to determine what is evil and what is good? Evil itself proves that there is something in a higher power to choose what is right and what is wrong. Now let"s say you don"t believe in evil. How do we know between good and bad? We can"t know what"s bad unless we know what is good to begin with. In the beginning Adam and eve were created and everything was good. They sinned and evil came into the world, etc. this is the only known story of how evil got into the world. Please explain to me how we can even know between good and bad without someone telling us which is which. //"If there's an argument for religion that's convincing -- actually convincing, convincing by means of something other than authority, tradition, personal intuition, confirmation bias, fear and intimidation, wishful thinking, or some combination of the above -- wouldn't we all know about it?"// Again the thing we all know about is good and bad/evil. How do children learn what is bad and what is good? They learn by what they are taught. Anyone who has god in their life understands there is a difference between good and bad. Without god, there is no such thing as good or bad. Please give me an explanation on how we could no the difference between the two without a God. In the next round I will explain absolute truth and moral absolutes. |
