Is there a way for the church to get their loved ones out of hell by payments or contributions?

If the Bible says, Jesus has the keys to both death and hell according to Revelation 1:18 which is Jesus' statement, " I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death." Is it safe for the church to claim that they can get their loved ones out of hell through payments made to church?

Will you be debating for the affirmative (yes, you can buy your way out of hell) or the negative (no, you cannot)?

That's not totally accurate. The Church has never abandoned the doctrine of indulgences. It also never universally offered indulgences for charitable donations (only one German Bishop ever did). After the uproar this well intentioned Bishop caused, the Church stepped in and forbade his specific practice. Indulgences are still distributed to this day, however.

I believe the things you're talking about are called indulgences. Back before the split of the Catholic Church and the Protestant reformation, the Catholic Church attempted to sell the good deeds of the saints in order to buy themselves less time in purgatory. (I know that's not hell but it's the closest thing they had in regard to selling less time.) However, many people believed that was wrong so they left the church with Martin Luther. Overall, the Catholic Church recognized that indulgences didn't actually work and stopped selling them.

I am not aware of any church that makes such a claim. Certainly none that I have ever heard of.

Technically, there's nobody in hell, there in purgatory. They won't be in hell until after the apocalypse, and if you happen to find yourself in heaven, then there won't be any need for money, so..................
