I got into an argument with some of my friends at school about races. Now, my friends told me that there is only one race, and that is God's race, but I also think that there are races such as Caucasian, African American, Chinese, and etc. I was wondering if someone could give me their opinion and try to convince me about what they think is the right answer. Now, this might me a question that only God knows, but please, TRY to explain. Thanks! :)

Races do not exist.
1. people are all generally the same
We are all comprised of the same parts, with only slight variation, in the grand scheme of things.
2. People use it as a way to discriminate
Because some people find it necessary to find distinctions between others, claiming race is easy ; the traits are physical.
However, people are primarily the same ; people all learn, think, and act the same.
All in all, Race is non-existent. It's merely a tool to separate people.

Race actually is various cultural backgrounds, which with the exception of super integrated societies such as the US is ever present. Knowing a Nigerian and a phillipino for instance, I know that in their home countries there are several self imposed apartheid systems.

Race has multiple meanings ranging from car racing to human race. Race is only a title in your argument. Not an action. Thus it cannot be specifically altered to African or Asian race (per say). It is usually done with ignorance when used in such phrase.

Honestly, I could give you a biologists point of view on this. Race is mainly a human construct, in other animals we refer to race as sub-species or at least on the way to becoming a sub-species.

In my opinion race doesn't exist.

No problem.

In the forums tab, go to "Politics" or "Society", probably Society, and up at the top right hit the button marked "new topic." Ask away. Shortly, others will chime in with responses ranging from "helpful" to "smart alec" to "Boy, I could have gone my whole life without knowing that."

You're welcome.
