I would argue that U.S. military aid to Israel is illegal and illegitimate, and a gross impediment to the peace process. I'm mostly basing my argument on Israel's human rights record.

Hello.
I accept this challenge and want to give a brief statement of my stance in this argument.
While the way in which the u.s is approaching the Israeli situation may be illegal, they are crucial in keeping the Israelis in their homes. While this may seem like a slow in the peace process, without them, the Israelis would be gone

Military Aid to Israel is completely illegal under U.S. and International law, given Israel's egregious violations of human rights and international law.
A few of many reasons why aid is illegal:
*Israel's over 500 000 settlements in the West Bank, violating a World Court Ruling in 2004, UN security Council resolutions 446 and 465, Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Conventions and even admitted to be illegal by leading the Israeli architects of settlement policy such as former Defense Minister Moshe Dayan. The World Court made clear that any state aiding the maintenance of these settlements is in contravention of international law.
*congressional legislation banning military aid to regimes with undeclared nuclear weapons. Israel has 200-300 nuclear war heads, its nuclear program is completely closed to even minimal international inspection, being a non-signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty, (and is itself illegal given repeated UN general assembly resolutions calling for a Nuclear Weapons Free Zone in the Middle East.
*Israel's record of "torture... prolonged detention without charges and trial... flagrant denials of the right to life, liberty, or the security of people," according to the State Department. Amnesty International pointed out that Israel was the first country in the world to legalize torture. The Foreign Assistance Act, the Arms Export Control Act, and international law under the Geneva Conventions and the United Nations Convention Against Torture, all maintain that military aid to regimes which systematically abuse human rights is illegal.

We pride our selves as the best nation who cares for the world and freedom if we care for freedom why do we support Israel's illegal occupation of Palestine and why do we deny the Palestinians a free state of their own. Why do we support Israel genocide against them and their illegal settlements, bombings and their denial to the Palestinians right to have a free state. We can't send the aid until their government stops this apartheid.

Many. We have the Geneva conventions, world court resolutions, various U.S. congressional resolutions.
