"There are dreamers and there are realists in this world. You would think the dreamers would find the dreamers and the realists would find the realists but... more often than not, the opposite is true. You see the dreamers need the realists to keep them from soaring too close to the sun. And the realists... well, without the dreamers, they might not ever get off the ground." -- Modern Family

Most people would say they are a dreamer or realistic, but which one is more valuable? Neither one of them is more valuable than the other. Referring to the quote above, dreamers and realists balance each other out. Realists tend to see the negative sides of things while dreamers see the most positive side. Realists don’t have a practical approach because they are afraid to fail or are scared of other outcomes, they see it that way because at one point in their life, they were told they couldn’t do something or will never become something they wanted. Realists are people who have seen the world in their own reality and they face reality differently than others.

A common question we were asked most as kids was, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” We were all dreamers at one point in our lives. We had the craziest ideas like being a skydiver, a rock star, or a chicken nugget. Whatever came to mind, it’s what we wanted to be. We had these big dreams because we were also told that we could be anything we wanted. As we got older, we always had that one person tell us that we couldn’t be something or it wasn’t realistic. “If you can dream it, you can do it.” Walt Disney once said. Dreamers are people that see something in the world nobody else will and they take taht as a weapon and use it to achieve their dreams.

I believe it's better to be a realist because the dreams you once had are still there, but as a realist, you see the practical way of things and there you can use that to make the dreams real. It's almost like watching a scary movie and thinking you would do much better in those situations.

If you are a realist then all your life you wont have any fun you will just live in a giant bubble and whenever someone says something you will just turn the other way and point out the bad things in that and why it's not true. And besides, it is impossible to fully be a realist because every dream you have is not true. Plus every human dreams so if you were a full realist then you would not be a human. Also if you had kids then it would suck to be a realist because little kids are huge dreamers. So when your kid wants to play barbie dolls with you then you would have to say that barbies are not real and you have to take their barbies away. Then on Christmas when your kid yells out Santa ate our cookies you would have to break the news to them that Santa is not real and you are the ones delivering the presents. That is why I think it is better to be a dreamer than a realist.

Not alll reaiist are miserable. I am a realist and I can tell you that we do not see the negative side of things. Dreamers are the type of people to act without a second thought. They take action to achieve anything they set their minf to. Reaists dont turn the other cheek; they just review the other sides of things. Say someone's dream is to jump off a bridge. While they will just go for it, a realists would think of the pros and cons of the situation.

Being a realist with kids could possibly make you a better parent. Your barbie doll example is irrelevant. Now, if the kid said they wanted to be a barbie doll when they grow up, then that's where you tell them it's not real. Being a realist does not mean you don't believe in anything. Being a realist means that you look at the cons of situations.

xD Nah, Stonehe4rt's comment is the bomb.

Also too the debate, you will find that without Dreamers, the world is pointless. However without any Realist nothing will get done. So in this debate of two extremes: If I had to choose one, it would without a doubt be.... A Dreamer. Yes, nothing would really be accomplished, however the same is true for a Realist because nothing would matter, so anything you do is pointless and not really an accomplishment. However in a world of only Dreamers, we can make a purpose for ourselves, we can enjoy life, we can accomplish things that are not real, but are still gives us joy. (I am talking in the extremes for both Realist and Dreamers, I understand there is a middle ground that we all need.)

Or so that is how my opinion is: I wonder if it will change throughout the debate.
