I attest to whom it might concern, that no matter what I say, I cannot fully win. A) To fully win I must win both the round and I must make my opponent concede to my opinionso if my opponent concedesand I win the debate then I lose the debate and if he argues and I lose, Then I win. But I haven't fully won.

Con

crazypenguin forfeited this round.

I don't know where the notion of me conceding came from, but I assure you that this debate is still going on. I have not conceded, I have not stated anything similar to that and as my opponent has presented to real argument your only choice at this time is to vote Pro.

I thought you had noticed when you said "I guess I win" and the debate topic is clearly It is impossible to fully win this debate which you are the pro side for. I would call that conceding.

Technically, this debate was totally unfair to begin with, and draxxt has undeniably won this debate.
Furthermore, paradoxes are fun!

Oh, I get it now. In that case, I change my vote to PRO.

No, If I win, that's proving me wrong, therefore, I do not fully win.
Fallacies are fun!

Here's how I saw it.

CON forfeited a round. Forfeiting is conceding (at least according to what you said in round 2). So not only did you win the round but your opponent had conceded . Thus, according to your own definition of "fully win", you fully won the debate.

Then again, the only flaw in this method of thought that I can see is CON responding in round 2. He should have responded in round 3 to legitimize this.

No, my opponent doesn't win as he didn't refute my case. In fact, he helped it.

I disagree. Most debate isn't about convincing - its about winning the judge's vote. Convincing happens to be one of the most common means, but many people resort to ridiculous antics to try to win too (Pie Throwing in policy, etc)

My arg would've gone off on a tangent by saying that (especially in view of debate, which is competitive) a win is merely more votes *or THE vote, in the case of the tourney*.

then what does I guess I win mean?

PublicForumGOD, the point is - the purpose of any argument you'd have with your friends would be to convince them. The goal is to convince your judge. Also, I don't think you've fully won if someone votes for you regardless of the meat of the debate, but judges you on your username? Basically, you can split it down into the following 3 criteria for fully winning:

A) Proving the Resolution.
B) Having your opponent concede to your opinion.
C) Winning the round.

As pro, if he wins the round then the resolution is disproven, therefore he cannot fully win because one cannot exist with the other.

There's a way around this, just not the way you're going about it.

(Con can prove the resolution, have the opponent concese AND win the round, Pro can't)

Um....the answer to this question as Con is pretty simple. Gain more votes and you fully win. Thats how a win is determined; get more votes.

There isnt winning by degrees - you win or lose. If I get 4 votes and you get 1 I fully win.

lol

I didn't concede, because I never said I fully won.

Get it? Cool.
