It is to be considered cheating to copy and paste your entire argument from another website.

Ofcourse it is cheating. The format of this website is to nurture original thought and intelligent debate. If you want to present and argument for or against something and use a source to back up your offerings it should merely be inserted as a foot note.

Plagiarism should result in expulsion and the debate should be terminated with the offender placed in the losing collumn.

For cases of repeated plagiarism, or for cases in which a student commits severe plagiarism (e.g., submitting a copied article as his or her own work), a student may be suspended or expelled. --Wiki-- http://en.wikipedia.org...

it is not cheating assuming you knowingly read everything you are copy/pasting and you fully agree with it. That makes it part of your argument too.

if it is in the opening statement i believe everything can be copy/pasted, however beyond that it should have a source on all the the arguments.

QUOTE: "That makes it part of your argument too."
That's impossible when your entire argument is plagiarized. Because you have no argument, only someone elses you are deeming as your own.

i agree that this website was formed to be based on original thought and intelligent debate. But posting info from another site, just shows that the site has good information. And if you agree with it there is no difference from saying it than in putting it in the debate. If your were going to put it in the debate yourself, you would basically be re-peating the same thing the site says any way. so technically there is no point in re-writing all the stuff when its already written and explained well.

Again however i only believe that it should be used in opening statements. Other than that if some one wish to post info from another source they should cite it and add some things of their own.

My final argument will be just a link because this webpage says it all.

1. Fo-shizzle uses unsourced copypasta as his entire argument in another debate.
2. People, his opponent included, tell him he should not have done that.
3. This debate comes out.
4. A new profile, almost exactly the same as Fo-shizzle's, pops into existence a few hours ago.
5. Said account takes up this debate, basically defending what Fo-shizzle did in that other debate.

Fo-shizzle either made an extra account, or on the fly convinced a friend, who happened to have extremely similar views, writing styles, etc., to make an account and take this debate.

Con can't win if he accepts Pro's R3 argument as not cheating. Simply because he fails to see the reasoning behind the source's conclusion does not indicate there is none. Pro put forth arguments showing that Con's counterarguments are wrong, which DO support the source he posted. Since Pro cited the source, and he is presumably the original author, there is no plagiarism problem in R3.

All to Pro except conduct.

I edited the resolution.
I'm curious, I can't seem to find an option to not recieve emails on what debate.org considers a favorite topic. My inbox is getting annihilated. I adjusted my settings under Settings->Emails . But I didn't see an option for this specific case. Any help?

It can be a Yes/No question... but it really should be a normative statement.... in this case:

"It should be considered cheating to copy..."

It can be a question. Just make sure it doesn't confuse the readers which side you're on.
