Person A and Person B.

Person A is someone who accepts Christ into his life and is a devout Christian. However he is a very bad person. He kills several people, steals from others, cheats on his wives/girlfriends, does many crimes against Humanity and generally does not give a toss about anyone other than himself.

Person B is someone who is very kind. They are very caring for all sorts of people and have saved many lives and made the world a better place. They saved people from invasions from armies and terroist attacks. They also gave up half their money to provide water sources to many cities suffering from thirst.

Person A is sent to Heaven to enjoy an eternity in Paradise. Where as Person B is suffering and being burnt in Hell for the rest of time even though they did so many good things.

Person B does not DESERVE to burn in Hell for all eternity. So why is it moral for him to recieve a punishment he does not deserve?

Does ANYONE really deserve to go to Hell?

Last time I checked giving someone a punishment they dont deserve wasnt a good thing.....

That is not necessarily true. That is not what the bible says. Everyone, girl or boy, good or bad, Christian or not, have the chance and the opportunity to go to heaven.

Ok firstly The Bible DOES teach that followers of Christ will go to Heaven where as those who dont believe in Jesus will burn in Hell for all eternity.

Secondly you have missed the point of this debate. What I am trying to say is that its not ok for Christians to be sent to Heaven to spend a paradise of God regardless of the wrongdoings they have ever done no matter how evil whilst non Christians who are good people are sent to Hell simply because they dont accept Christ as saviour.

As the pro my job is to prove these rules are unfair. As the con your job is to prove these rules are fair.

Saying "The Bible doesnt teach this" does not make that rule fair. As the con your supposed to prove the rule is fair. Saying "the bible doesnt teach that" is a) wrong a b) not relevant.

Your supposed to prove that the rule is fair. That is your role in the debate. Whether or not the Bible says it is or isnt is irrelevant. (though it does).

Now to defeat your point about the Bible not saying this.

"Those who believe in him are not condemned; but those who do not believe are condemned already, because they have not believed in the name of the only Son of God"-John.3.18

But what if someone who doesnt believe in the name of the only son of god is a really good person who has saved many lives and made so many people happy? Are they condemned?

.......... There are no arguments to refute so I guess I'll just come up with another one...

Well there is a PUBLIC argument used by many Christians which I have to be honest is very well thought out. It is actually VERY reasonable and almost convinced me that hey maybe its fine for only Christians to be in Heaven. Here is what it is:

All Human Beings have sinned. Regardless of all the good deeds they have done Humans have still done bad things. Even if they do good things it doesnt change the fact they have also done bad things. Bad things are Sin.

The just punishment for sin is God's Wrath. As a God of Justice it would be unfair for God to just say "oh they've done some good things I'll let them off" even though they have commited sin and DESERVE God's Wrath.

For example let's take it in a court of law in the real world.

The judge has a trial for a murderer. This murderer has killed people obviously. They have commited the crime of murder.

However even though they have commited the crime of murder they have also done many good things in their life. They have done loads of charity work and fixed many broken hearts.

Should the judge:
A) say "oh well they've done good things as well. NOT GUILTY"
B) Give them the just punishment of prison

Same principle applies to God. If God just said "oh they have done good things who cares if they worshipped false gods" then he would be doing exactly what the judge would be doing if they took option A.

However. CHRISTIANS.

The punishment for the crimes (sin) is God's Wrath. 2000 years ago Jesus took this punishment even though he didn't deserve it. Christians are people who accept Jesus as their SAVIOUR from the punishment which they deserve. Therefore Christians have had their punishment taken for them by Jesus. Non Christians have not accepted Jesus as saviour and thus they still need their punishment do they not?

Here is my argument in return:

Let's say there was a Christian who was very devout. They truly loved Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit and followed them. However he had a family who were non christian. The dad who raised him was Atheist mother was Budhist sister Atheist brother pagan.

He has had his punishment taken for him by Jesus. But his family haven't have they?

So if this Christian going to enjoy his time in Heaven knowing his family are burning below in Hell? No. That's the enjoyment of Heaven taken out of this Christians life.

They may have been saved by God's wrath but is that what they truly want? Their family are in Hell.........

That would be like Hell for them. Hell IS God's Wrath.

The Christian in Heaven is having the quality of time of Hell.

But wait...?

This Christian doesnt DESERVE the quality of Hell..? His punishment has been taken..?

Mikey there are plenty of churches that teach non believers go to hell. My church (evangelical) being one of them. I don't know of a single baptist church that doesn't preach nonbelievers go to Hell.

(I am sure there is a church out there that claims to be baptist and teaches your view but it would be a rarity.)

No, Fletch, I am not saying that there is no Hell, I am saying that nonbelievers, as you put it, are not sent to Hell for not believing in God.

The point of my comment was to illustrate that no Christian religion believes (at least these days) that a person will go to Hell for simply not believing in God.

Belief can not be forced. otherwise it is not belief.

@21MolonLabe,

You make some good points, some similar ones that I made further down in the comments. You are basically saying that it is pretty much impossible for either of these people to exist. Which is ironic, because PRO thinks this is a big problem, but if the existence of such people is incoherent, then the problem simply goes away. This, I think, would be a good way to debate against PRO's arguments and win the debate.

Assuming the Christian God Exists:

"Person A is someone who accepts Christ into his life and is a devout Christian. However he is a very bad person. He kills several people, steals from others, cheats on his wives/girlfriends, does many crimes against Humanity and generally does not give a toss about anyone other than himself." Part of being a Christian is being what people nowadays call "Good people." So he can't be truly devout and be terrible at the same time.

"Person B does not DESERVE to burn in Hell for all eternity. So why is it moral for him to recieve a punishment he does not deserve?" According to the Christian faith, NO ONE deserves Heaven because no one is perfect. And the only way to Heaven is through Jesus Christ. Which means by default that the only other option is Hell. By saying that someone does not deserve Hell, then you inadvertently assert that person B is perfect, or that person is Jesus Christ. And unless you can find someone today that IS perfect, then person B cannot possibly exist.

Look at it this way..Christians can care if they go to one of the 2 "Places". Non christians do not care, because non of the 2 things exist...Problem solved.

Only the Israelites were given repentance of our sins (Acts 5:31) not the whole world.

@Greg4586,

Greg, we will be judged by the choices that we have made. We will all be called upon to give an account of our lives before God. Romans 14:10"12 clearly teaches this. However, this is not the way to salvation. Salvation is earned only through faith in Christ because none are worthy before perfect God - we all have sinned. But make no mistake, we will be judged on our choices and our actions as you seem to want.

Mikey are you saying that the bible does not teach that there is a literal place called Hell, or that those who do not believe will go there?

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that who should ever believe in him would not perish but have everlasting life.

If there is no Hell then what are we perishing from, what are we being delivered from?

13"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Matthew 7:13-14

Jesus is the narrow gate, he is the only way to God. Please realize that good works are not enough to make it, only through Jesus can anyone be saved. Hell is literal and many are going there, do not shrug this off. Feel free to PM me if you wish to talk more.

28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Matthew 10:28
