On the basic argument that Jackie Robinson West should have been stripped of their title solely on the reason because they broke the rules, why shouldn't other teams that broke the rules also be stripped of their title especially for something so insignificant as having players from outside their neighborhood zone. Why shouldn't the Patriots forfeit their Super Bowl win for breaking the rules by deflating footballs? Furthermore, why should the runner-up receive the championship trophy?

I think that Jackie Robinson West got what they deserved. Also, the thing about the patriots is irrelevant, because it is a different sport. I agree that other teams doing the same thing should be punished, but it doesn't matter if they weren't in the world series. I think the punishment was fair and just.

The Patriots argument is not irrelevant. Both Jackie Robinson West (JRW) and the New England Patriots cheated in their respective sports. Each team, in their respective cases, had relatively minor transgressions. For Jackie Robinson West they were not given an unfair advantage over the Las Vegas team whom they beat in the championship because that team had beaten JRW earlier in the tournament. Furthermore, it was not the kids on the team who should be punished by having their trophy taken away but instead their coaches should be banned and the team should be dispersed but they should still keep their trophy. The best team doesn't win championships, its the team that puts in the most effort and commitment in order to get to the title.

I agree that the children playing the sport should not be punished. However, I still believe the Patriots fiasco is irrelevant, just because it is a different league, sport, and division. Most of what you say is true, and JRW did have an advantage. That was unfair, but that doesn't automatically make the other little league world series team the winner. They should make a fair competition for qualifying teams. By the way, I am a Seahawks fan, although I knew they would lose. how about you?

JRW should have been stripped of the title, because they cheated. But it doesn't matter if other teams cheated, because they didn't make it to the world series. Also, the Seattle Seahawks should have been given the trophy, 'cause the patriots cheated.

The Patriots example is beyond irrelevant because unless you personally have proof of tampering you are creating your analogy off of hearsay and zero evidence tampering was involved.

And JRW title strip may be a bad break for the kids, but the coaches knowingly broke the rules, the taking away of the title is the right thing to do.

Le.Doctor, a local team reported them, not the Cali team. Actually on the ESPN boards during the LLWS there were several mentions of illegal players on the JRW team, but was never really publicized before recently.

does anything change if it was the 2nd place team, that the Jackie Robinson team played against, who told the officials about the cheating on part of the Jackie Robinson Team? Also would it matter if the trophy automatically was given to the runner up? Why not just re-do part if not all of the championship; it would take time and money, but wouldn't that be the only way to find out who is the "real" winner right?
