Jay Cutler is being too sensitive. I can understand him being a little mad, but I think He's being over dramatic.
Jay Cutler is not acting like a baby. I believe he is right in his actions. First off, let's get one thing straight, one thing some people seem to have a hard time grasping--the Broncos did NOT go out looking to deal for Matt Cassel or go out looking for a trading partner to deal Jay Cutler away. The teams approached THEM with the idea. It's the fact that the Broncos CONSIDERED dealing Cutler (who is a: franchise quarterback, a pro-bowler, infinitely talented) for Cassel made him upset. And not just that--they didn't let him know his name was even in those trade talks. With that, clearly the Broncos organization is not trustworthy when it comes to dealing with players, particularly recognizing and respecting key players. It is a business, yes, but its just plain foolish to even think of dealing Cutler, even for two first-round picks, for what he's done for that franchise, and the better (possibly) years to come when his team gets half-decent defense to take the pressure off of his offense. Just the fact that the Broncos even considered the trade made Jay think they couldn't win with him at the helm. This is misconception, and here's why. McDaniels made the worst mistake a new head coach can make--he remotely tinkered with his team's strength with his, and his general manager's consideration. Remember that old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." The Broncos ranked 2nd in total offense and 3rd in passing offense in 2008. Jay Cutler was the quarterback all year long. With a defense that ranked 29th in the league, it was Cutler alone that carried the Broncos to the edge of the playoffs with an 8-8 record. With an ineffective running-game, the offense became predictable, which made Cutler's job even harder. The passing offense was clearly the team's only strength. If McDaniels and Xanders (general manager) don't understand how to manage a team, they shouldn't be have the jobs they were paid big bucks to do. Finally, from the trade ideas, we gather that Cutler also feels insulted because a. He doesn't feel as valued as he should be b. The coach considered a guy like Matt Cassel, who we don't know better than just a one-year wonder, over him With such poor player management, it's no wonder the Broncos are in the position they are in, with Cutler and with a rebuilding process. |

Ok, thank you for accepting the debate.
some of the arguments that you used only furthered my point. I'll show you where. 1) {"The Broncos did NOT go out looking to deal for Matt Cassel or go out looking for a trading partner to deal Jay Cutler away. The teams approached THEM with the idea."} Exactly, the Broncos weren't looking to trade Cutler, they just recieved an offer from other teams. This shouldn't worry Jay. He needs to understand whats going on. They're not trying to back stab him, it's just part of being in the NFL. 2) {"Just the fact that the Broncos even considered the trade made Jay think they couldn't win with him at the helm."} Of course they consider it. If they didn't that would be dumb. If you have an opportunity for a new situation then you consider it to ensure that it wouldn't be better for your team. In this case I don't think it would be, but you should still consider it, why not. 3) {"The Broncos ranked 2nd in total offense and 3rd in passing offense in 2008. Jay Cutler was the quarterback all year long. With a defense that ranked 29th in the league, it was Cutler alone that carried the Broncos to the edge of the playoffs with an 8-8 record."} Right. So Jay Cutler shouldn't worry right? His coach would be crazy to make a trade. Cutler just needs to understand that just because his coach is looking into something else doesn't mean he should have a panick attack. Cutler is in the NFL. There's a lot of stuff that goes on that yu can't control. It's a business. Franchises are trying to make money. Players are supposed to play. Jay needs to let his coach worry about the money, and he needs to worry about himself. Sure he can be mad, but He's taken it way too far. Vote Pro
1) "Exactly, the Broncos weren't looking to trade Cutler, they just recieved an offer from other teams. This shouldn't worry Jay. He needs to understand whats going on. They're not trying to back stab him, it's just part of being in the NFL." They did backstab him, twice, by (1) not telling him he could (considerations) be snubbed for, what we know of so far to be, a one-year wonder in Cassel. McDaniels was approached by the Buccaneers and other teams to deal Cutler behind Cutler's back, in return for a much less valuable quarterback and lied about the trade talks after his scheme was exposed and, by pressure from everyone, was forced to attempt to reconcile with Cutler. He wasn't sincere in his discussions and Cutler knew he only tried to reconcile because he was forced to. And (2) the offensive staff was replaced after Shanahan was fired when Cutler was told they would stay in place. The level of mistrust between McDaniels and Cutler is at an all-time-high. If you can't trust your head coach, who can you trust? I don't know about you, but treating a pro-bowler and the face of the franchise like the Broncos did is absolutely unacceptable. That said, Cutler must feel like he deserves better, and I agree with him. 2) "Of course they consider it. If they didn't that would be dumb. If you have an opportunity for a new situation then you consider it to ensure that it wouldn't be better for your team. In this case I don't think it would be, but you should still consider it, why not." Remember that old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"? He led one of the most effective passing offenses in the NFL last year. They tinkered with their strength and now they are left with an unhappy camper. It is only silly to even consider bringing in another quarterback to learn the system and build chemistry with the offense like Cutler has done. Sure, they can bring in Brady Quinn, who knows the system McDaniels is installing, but we don't know whether he is going to be good yet or not. 3) Right. So Jay Cutler shouldn't worry right? His coach would be crazy to make a trade. Cutler just needs to understand that just because his coach is looking into something else doesn't mean he should have a panick attack. What they would lose if one of the few franchise quarterbacks in the league. He's proven he can win games, and with such a poor defense and lack of an efficient running game, their 8-8 record exceeded expectations. It's a little difficult to expect to win when every week your defense is giving up upwards of 20 points a game. "Cutler is in the NFL. There's a lot of stuff that goes on that yu can't control. It's a business. Franchises are trying to make money. Players are supposed to play. Jay needs to let his coach worry about the money, and he needs to worry about himself. Sure he can be mad, but He's taken it way too far." Wrong. Franchises are in it to win. Having Jay Cutler gives them the best chance to win. Bring in another quarterback for their only strength, passing offense, totally disrupts team chemistry. The Broncos have had a less than solid defense all of Cutler's stay there. Considering the defense gives up so many points a game, their offense is always under pressure, more so with lack of an efficient running game, to make up the difference. It's not Cutler's fault the Broncos only went 8-8 record. |
