The Motion: Jeremy Corbyn's election as Prime Minister in the 2020 election would be positive for Britain.

Alternatives are not considered (ie. "I'd prefer him to Boris/Osborne/May") the debate will exclusively consider Jeremy Corbyn and his ideas/polices.

I'm arguing against the motion.

First round is for acceptance.

Now I'm not really an avid follower of UK politics, nor am I Labour supporter in any way shape or form; but I want a first debate and playing devil's advocate is something I enjoy doing. I am ceding round 1 to you, as I will need some time for research, basically after your round 2 argument I should be completely prepared. However, there's no way he can be as bad as Ed Millband. Fingers crossed.

This debate should be more for 2020 if he lasts that long, or if there is an election sooner. I've only done a little research, all I have discovered is he's more left wing than all other candidates and he's a career politician. Now I don't mind arguing on behalf of the left, even though i'm more centre-right, but I do require more research time. Also I'd need to know about what his policies would look like other than more socialist than Ed Milliband. So I concede round 2, However my round 3 argument will have more detail, and then my round 4 argument will likely be similar to a persuasive essay.

I might do, it's just I never like defending people because I don't know everything about them or everything they have said, and one does not always know what another means by what they say. Also I admit that I don't know much about Corbyn as I have only seen PMQ and some interviews so although I believe in him, I don't know enough to have a proper debate. I would prefere arguing for my own beliefs about socialism and capitalism.

How can you not agree with Corbyn? I wonder if people who play at being right wing and 'politically tough' are just trying to appear strong or tough themselves. What do any of you disagree with that he has said?

He is one of the most outspoken MP's, and in a country of powerful corporations taking jobs and money to other countries Corbyn is a great force for good, at least for ordinary people.

History shows that progressive nations gradually become more 'left', though at the time views of that nature are always opposed. Leftism is a force for good.

I disagree with both of you although I am not prepared to debate this since I don't agree with Jeremy Corbyn either. I support what labor is supposed to stand for but Labor hasn't actually done what it should have been doing for a while.
