Christ was not killed on friday as professed by many. But, he was killed on Wednesday. If Christ died on Friday and resurrected on Sunday morning, then he did not stay in the grave for three days and three nights but for two nights and a day. This is contrary to Christ's statement that he would stay in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights. See Matthew 12:38-40.
The Bible shows that Jesus Christ was killed on the 14th of Nisan, the first month of the Jews, when the Passover lamb is slain. That day preceded the Passover Sabbath, not the weekly Sabbath. It was, the eve or the "preparation" for the Passover Sabbath which was "an high day'.- Exodus 12:1-6, 14; John 19: 14,31,42; Leviticus 23: 1-8, 23-44.
The Jews observe 12 hours as one day. (John 11:9) Jesus Christ resurrected at the end of the weekly Sabbath on Saturday, having been buried at evening of Wednesday. By the time Mary Magdalene came to the grave "when the Sabbath was past", " while it was still dark", in the night preceding the first day of the week, Sunday, the LORD Jesus had risen. - Matthew 27: 57-62; Mark 15: 42-47; Matthew 28: 1; Mark 16: 1; John 20: 1
God had also in prophecy declared that Jesus Christ would be killed in the "midst of the week", on Wednesday. - Daniel 9:27.
Thus Jesus Christ who was arrested on Tuesday evening, was abused and harassed through the night before being crucified on Wednesday afternoon, was in the grave Wednesday night, Thursday night and Friday night (three nights) as well as Thursday, Friday and Saturday (three days) in fulfilment of Matthew 12:38-40.
The mere fact that many professed Christians, without authority of the Scriptures, associate Easter with the resurrection of Christ does not in any way alter its paganish image or make it receive the blessing of the Lord. The Bible says we should not break the commandment of God because of traditions of men. - Matthew 15: 1-3; Jeremiah 10:2,3; 2 Corinthians 6:14-18' etc
