In a non-sensible world, government regulation is the solution to all problems.

But there is one problem about this: can one learn to make the right decisions in life if one does not have these decisions to begin with? But no, leave it to big government central to decide what to choose to drink with your whole-grain meal. And whether you can enjoy a tasty snack afterwards, and never mind what anyone else thinks.

Assuming big government central has considered controlling what is in the kitchen cabinets of people is a bit over the top, they have targeted the vending machines in schools that offer (gasp!) candy bars for students.

These people are essentially missing the main problem with our American childhood obesity epidemic: the lack of funding for gym classes and extracurricular sports. If eliminating soda for our students was a real problem, why not ban soda in the dining rooms reserved for Representatives and Senators at the US Capitol, and while we're at it, in every restaurant everywhere?

It is ridiculous to think the ban on "junk" will make a considerably positive impact. The real solution for congress to focus on is the funding of physical education.
