Debate Round No. 1

I. Man's true nature

Throughout the ages, all religion did was try to change the way humans think, act and feel. Religion is more interested in changing man's nature instead of helping him accept it. Abrahamic religion will tell you that man's nature is sinful and you must change it by accepting God, Buddhism will tell you that man's nature prohibits him from seeing the world in a different way, Hinduism will tell you that man's nature should be changed in order to enter the Brahman realm.
One of the aspect that all religions share is the struggle to convince people to change who they are. At the same time, all of there religions claim that humans are above animals, at a spiritual level, that humans were either specially created or that they exist on a different level of reality. The distinction between man and animals is made clear in every single religion. Now, the question is, if we are spiritually superior to animals, why do we operate just like them? The differences in behavior between humans and animals only exist as long as humans act against their instincts, as taught by religion.
The biggest problem with proclaiming man's nature sinful is that it puts religious person under a lot of stress. No matter how religious a person is, it is still driven by its animalistic instincts. Therefore, the person will eventually lie, act greedy, be violent, fantasize about sex and so on. A Satanist will have no problem with these actions, but a Christian for example will blame himself for thinking and acting that way. There are two things I want to point out here.
Firstly, the actions that are usually regarded as sins are unconscious. It is not normal, nor reasonable to make people feel guild for doing something they cannot control. Religion puts a great pressure on people to behave in a certain way. Religious people must struggle to bury their desires and instincts in order to respect these rules.
Secondly, this pressure ultimately results in a lot of stress. People think about what they have done and what they have to do to make it right. A good example is confession. Many people cry during a confession because they are relieved to be forgiven. There is no reason for people to worry and blame themselves for this kind of actions. The only reason they are concerned about what they think and how they act is because religion regulates their behavior.

LaVeyan Satanism, on the other hand, acknowledge man's true nature and consider it normal. It doesn't condemn man's actions as long as they lead to some form of gratification. It is the only religion that allows human to act as they wish and doesn't control their thought or actions. A Satanism will always be happier and more relaxed than a Christian or a Muslim, because he can live as he wants, without worrying about how he acts or blaming himself for how he acted.

II. Rules and sins
"The Satanist shuns terms such as "hope" and "prayer" as they are indicative of apprehension. If we hope and pray for something to come about, we will not act in a positive way which will make it happen. The Satanist, realizing that anything he gets is of his own doing, takes command of the situation instead of praying to God for it to happen. Positive thinking and positive action add up to results. "

"The Eastern mystical beliefs teach humans to discipline themselves against any conscious will for success so they might dessolve themselves into "Universal Cosmic Awareness" - anything to avoid good healthy self-satisfaction or honest pride in earthly accomplishments! It is interesting to note that the areas in which this type of belief flourishes are those where material gains are not easily obtainable. For this reason the predominant religious belief must be one which commends its followers for their rejection of material things and their avoidance of the use of labels which attaches a certain amount of importance to material gains. In this way the people can be pacified into accepting their lot, no matter how small it may be. "

Since most religions teach that there is some form of eternal existence and the way you live will affect it, it is no surprise that many religious people worry about the afterlife more than the worry about this life. People accept their fate, thinking that it's God's will or it's karma, instead of trying to improve their condition. It is simply unreasonable to wait for God to help you when you could easily help yourself. Also, because religions require people to obey a certain set of rules, religious people have to worry about how they live their life, what they think, how they act, instead of just enjoying it. No matter how much faith a person has, it must accept that there is a chance his beliefs are wrong and there is no afterlife, in which case he wasted his entire existence obeying some rules and never enjoyed life. In the case of theistic religions, it is unreasonable to believe that god would create humans as sinful beasts only so they can spend their lives changing. Satanism is more reasonable since it doesn't demand a certain behavior and it encourages its followers to live a happy, fulfilling life instead of fighting their instincts.

III. Better life

Another reason why Satanism is the most reasonable religion is because it focuses entirely on making life easier and more enjoyable for Satanists, instead of focusing on building churches or temples or worshiping gods. Probably the most important aspect of religions is the worshiping part. Every religion has a list of gods or saints, or higher being that have to be worshiped, prayed to or idolized. They also have a set of rules on how they should be worshiped and rituals with the sole purpose of showing respect to entities. Satanism's teachings help people be at peace with their sinful nature and not struggle to change it and The Satanic Rituals help people get rid of their anger or get gratification.
Religions should mostly focus on helping people live happier lives, but instead care a lot more about controlling their behavior than about improving their lives.

IV. Satanism and Science

Lastly, the fact that Satanism is strongly supported by modern science makes it even more reasonable.
The Satanic views about man's nature are supported by evolutionary biology which explains why humans are greedy, selfish and why they act the way they naturally do. Since this kind of behavior is natural and not unique to humans, it is reasonable to think that it doesn't have a negative effect on our life and it shouldn't be changed.
Freud's views on the mind support the idea that humans are wrongly accused of committing certain sins, since they are not conscious and evolutionary biology shows that desires and carvings and natural and must be satisfied.
Lastly, according to modern psychology, The Satanic Rituals are indeed a good way to release your anger:
"The hands, feet, and voice are key channels for releasing emotional energy from the body", "A powerful way to further let go of the wounding event, along with the hurt and angry feelings and limiting beliefs, is with an actual physical release."
The Satanic Ritual for the destruction of an enemy:
"f. the sticking of pins or nails into a doll representing your victim; the doll may
be cloth, wax, wood, vegetable matter, etc.
g. the creation of graphic imagery depicting the method of your victim's
destruction; drawings, paintings, etc. h. the creation of a vivid literary description of your victim's ultimate end.
i. a detailed soliloquy directed at the intended victim, describing his torments and
j. mutilation, injury, infliction of pain or illness by proxy using any other means
or devices desired. "

Therefore, LaVeyan Satanism is the most reasonable religion in the world.

I never make my debates open because I don't want to debate with someone who never heard of LaVey.

I agree that the dogma is not necessary and is only there because LaVey was very interested in the occult. However, it makes the religion a lot more interesting which is what LaVey wanted. Keep in mind that he started this religion 50 years ago, when a lot of people believed in magic and feared curses. In the Satanic Bible, he mentions that the purpose of the curse is to free yourself from the anger and also scare the cursed person. Maybe today it doesn't make much sense, because very few people would still fear a curse, but it doesn't make the religion any less reasonable. White and black magic, the way LaVey explains it is very reasonable. Just because he chose to call it magic, it doesn't make it less reasonable.
"Why have a Dogma when there are no real beliefs"
What do you mean no beliefs? Just because there is no god involved, it doesn't mean to religion doesn't have any beliefs.
Also, people are not selfish or greedy because they are Satanists, Christians or Buddhists. They are selfish and greedy because this is human nature, and while Christianity and Buddhism and pretty much every religion tries to convince us our nature is wrong and sinful, Satanism tells us that we should embrace it.

And Why not leave a debate open for everyone? do you wanna make sure you will win your debate before you except it? I see so many debates I want to take but can't, because the people with rank have some kind of snobby superiority complex. freaking lame.

no religion is reasonable. LaVeyan Satanism, is taking Ayn Rand's objectivism and wrapping it up in pointless dogma. being selfish and greedy is the way to go. This is just the "philosophy" that allows the ceos that screw people over to fill their own wallets sleep at night. The spoiled ceos that inherited their company from their fathers' and think they are the best because they are born with the most, falsely thinking that they are entitled to their outlandish wealth and powers. those ceos would make good LaVeyan Satanists, so would sociopaths. LaVeyan Satanism may be the most reasonable religion if you are a sociopath, or a narcissist, but that may not be so, Christianity works just as well for those people, A lot of Christians just got to say they accept Christ. then they can say they are against being a greedy and self centered , and turn around keep on acting the same

No religion is really reasonable. LaVeyan satanism is definitely not reasonable. Why have a Dogma when there are no real beliefs. Why have a religion with no real beliefs. becuase LaVey was on an ego trip. made a book that said its ok to be greedy, then called it a religion. Buddhism is more reasonable then Satanism. I'm not saying Buddhism is true or even that it is resonable. but it is far more reasonable than Satanism

The term LaVeyan means that the book is basically the religion. That's my interpretation Ajab.
Posted by Ajab 2 years ago
I just ask that you mention that the Satanic Bible is a sufficient representation of this religion.

I want to take this please.

I would take this.

Does it count as a religion? It has no dogma nor supernatural belief or belief in a higher power.
