If Tobacco & alcohol are legalized and commercialized yet kill millions of people a year why is Marijuana illegal. Alcohol and tobacco, though legal, are far more harmful than marijuana.

Marijuana has never directly led to the death of anyone . So why is it illegal. Legalizing marijuana in would wipe out the black market and generate huge tax revenues & stop the millions of dollars that are wasted on marijuana enforcement.

Marijuana treats many symptoms of many diseases so its basically a herb with many beneficial medicinal properties. Legalizing marijuana will create a lot of jobs and reduce unemployment,

Do you know that we lose $17.4 billion in taxpayer funds every year to arrests for non-violent drug crimes like sale and possession.

Pot prohibition is big business " especially for the ultra-violent cartels that regularly threaten, kidnap, and kill journalists, public officials, bloggers, and ordinary citizens in Mexico and U.S. border towns. Bringing a black-market industry into the real economy would take away a cash crop that drug traffickers peddle to finance a generational war.

Rebuttals:

“If Tobacco & alcohol are legalized and commercialized yet kill millions of people a year why is Marijuana illegal. Alcohol and tobacco, though legal, are far more harmful than marijuana.” In this debate, you must provide evidence to support your argument that tobacco and alcohol are more harmful than marijuana. Do not make a claim without a supporting evidence. However, assuming that is true, it is not a sufficient reason to legalize marijuana as you should discuss the merits of marijuana, not degrading other objects(tobacco or alcohol). Sir, you have the burden of proof so please show evidence.

“Marijuana has never directly led to the death of anyone . So why is it illegal. Legalizing marijuana in would wipe out the black market and generate huge tax revenues & stop the millions of dollars that are wasted on marijuana enforcement.” Can you show me the statistics that will show zero death rate from the users of marijuana? Another, you think money is a strong reason to legalize marijuana? You’re like saying that we should legalize all drugs to generate more money.

“Marijuana treats many symptoms of many diseases so its basically a herb with many beneficial medicinal properties. Legalizing marijuana will create a lot of jobs and reduce unemployment.” Again, where is the support for this? Kindly present evidence because as such, I would not bother rebutting this as you have the burden of proof and I just defend the status quo.

“Do you know that we lose $17.4 billion in taxpayer funds every year to arrests for non-violent drug crimes like sale and possession.” Is this a fact? Where it came from? So don’t you want them to be arrested?

Reminder:
Sir, you have the burden of proof. You should support your arguments with evidence, otherwise it would not warrant any consideration how true it may be. Mine is to defend only the status quo.
