Marijuana could potentially be a saving grace to the United States government. Although marijuana hasn't been proven to ever kill anyone, lawmakers have not been quick to act on this area. It is considered a narcotic, so driving under the influence of marijuana could lead to a DUI charge. However, driving under the influence of marijuana has not been proven to kill anyone. On the other hand, drunk driving kills thousands upon thousands each year, but alcohol is 100% legal for anyone over the age of 21.
Marijuana could become a cash crop within months of legalization. Lawmakers would tax marijuana, thus bringing in hundreds of millions of dollars worth of revenue, which is what the U.S. needs to get out of this deficit.

I understand my side isn't the most popular side, but hear out the facts and the sides first and foremost. I understand that Ryan is talking about using marijuana responsibly, putting in tax regulations and regulations for its use in general. Now that is all fine and dandy because people would be more than okay with this at first, but what about when the entitlement problem arises and people start disobeying the laws. It happens quite often with everything we allow. I understand that there are no recorded deaths, emphasis on recorded, with driving under the influence of marijuana, but what chance would we taking, or the government be taking, by now allowing it everywhere. We have no real recorded data on widespread use and don't know the detrimental effects it would have, although driving while having surreal feeling realistically sounds like it could pose a problem. I know driving under the influence would be against the law, but what if not everyone follows it. Let us not forget that marijuana is a gateway drug that could lead to more serious drugs. From this point who knows where the crime rate will head to and what people will do for drugs, or if harder drugs will become legalized because of this decision. I know that some states have already legalized it,but that doesn't mean the other states necessarily need to play follow the leader.
