Legos are way better than mega blocks.

The pieces fit together way better and the sets they come in are way cooler.

Also, mega blocks are for lames who have no friends.

The Lego company started making toys in 1932! Mega blocks started in 1967.

One can conclude from this that the lego company has had more experience.

Con

I negate the resolution: Legos are better than Mega Blocks.

I thank my opponent for this interesting debate, and also appreciate that it is only one round, since I do not want to invest a lot of time into any new debates right now. I strongly urge the judges to vote not based on their own opinions, but based on who has the better arguments.

I will begin by rebutting my opponent's arguments.

"The pieces fit together way better and the sets they come in are way cooler"
My opponent has cited no sources for this statement. That the pieces fit together better has not been proven, and coolness is subjective. However, I will attempt to show that Mega Blocks are "cooler" than Legos.

Mega Blocks come in a wide range of themes, from Marvel comics to Disney movies. They also have toddler-friendly themes such as Dora the Explorer.

In addition, the critics do not think that Legos are cool.

Review of the Aqua Dozer: The critic opens with "I'm really disappointed with the retail price of this set" and elaborates with "The model is quite ugly". The critic greatly dislikes the set, stating "[there is] NOTHING that can raise the rating above one star."

Review of the Research Glider: The critic was passionately disappointed with this Lego product. "[The glider] stinks. All it is is a sail, propeller(why?), and a windshield that doesn't even reach the mini-fig's eye level." The critic also points out the factual errors of the piece involving the so-called 'dinosaur hunter': "The guy looks older than 12, but maybe that's not a requirement for being a dinosaur hunter." The critic finds the set so disappointing that he reiterates: "Overall, this model stinks."

My opponent's next point:
"Also, mega blocks are for lames who have no friends."
My opponent fails to back up this statement. I know plenty of people who like Mega Blocks or used to like Mega Blocks, and they all have friends.

"The Lego company started making toys in 1932! Mega blocks started in 1967."
Mega Blocks are newer and more fashionable, while Legos struggle to keep up in the world of today.

"One can conclude from this that the lego company has had more experience."
Toy-making experience during the Great Depression hardly counts as experience.

"Bong!"
I do not see this as an argument, and I have no reason to rebut it.

My quotes from Lego critics serve as evidence that Legos are poor products, and are therefore not better than Mega Blocks. Many of my opponent's claims are not backed up with evidence, but I rebutted them anyway. I have shown that Mega Blocks are "cool", and that there is a great disliking of Legos among professional critics. I urge the judges to vote CON.

Same reason people say 'animes' when the plural is just 'anime'.

"Are you serious? Then why did you? Why even bring it up?"
Comedic value.

"I hate when people do this. What is the difference with him citing it from his mouth, and Albert Einstein citing it from his mouth? It is the same exact thing! What makes a math teacher more credible in saying 1+1=2, when I can say the exact same thing as the teacher, and be right."

My point was that he did not cite a source about the blocks not fitting together, which is objective truth. He provided no evidence to support it; evidence would have been just as good if not better than a source. By evidence, I mean something like a picture of legos and mega blocks on top of each other.

But this entire debate was a joke, so don't look into it too much.
