The first round is for acceptance.

For clarification of todays round I offer the following definition

Acceptance: the action of consenting to receive or undertake something offered (

pregnancy: Pregnancy, also known as gestation, is the time during which one or more offspring develops inside a woman.

fertilization: the fusion of gametes to initiate the development of a new individual organism

You did not make clear what you mean by acceptance but I am assuming you mean the acceptance of the pregnancy. Pregnancy isn't something easily accepted especially if not planned. Women's bodies completely change from size to tastes and hormones go array. Pregnancy effects almost everything in a women's life. And once you have the baby your life changes even more you now have a living being in your care that needs special attention around the clock. As well as the next 18 years.
Debate Round No. 1

Why do I say that life begins at fertilization because the human organism is the same at fertilization as he is at death genetically. Fertilization is when the baby gets his genetic code and race and gender are determined. Furthermore, a chemical known as early pregnancy factor is released at the very moment of conception.

Early pregnancy factor (EPF) was first described as a pregnancy-associated substance, although recent studies suggest a more general link with cell development. It is a product of actively dividing cells and its apparent functional importance to them suggests its potential as a regulator of cell proliferation. ( EPF is connected to when the cells split in the egg and that doesn't happen until 30 hours after fertilization (

Masterful suggested life began in my Dad's balls, BUT what about the egg in my Mom's ovary?

It too is alive as it moves to the Fallopian tube to be fertilized.

before we decide that, we need to define what "Life" is, or Human life to be more specific.

a sperm is NOT human life, nor is an unfertilized egg.
a Human life IS a fertilized egg.

Technically the sperm cells are living, so life begins in your dads balls.
I would say that life matters at consciousness, nobody knows when consciousness begins.
